Stewarding

Since the layout of the Clayton End has changed It has been heavily documented that relationship between stewards & supporters has declined. So much so that I have had supporters (long time die hard types) mention that they may give up if it doesn't get better. There have been occasions when stewards have talked to fans like they are ****, kids banned etc etcWell, I have it on good authority that M Schultz safety officer, will be out & about on Tuesday so if you see him then pass on your thoughts please. If he knows the issues then he can do somehting about it. I firmly believe he doesn't have a clue what is ACTUALLY happening on the Clayton End.We have self policed our area behind the goal for years, nipping things in the bud as fans when needed. We have no firm of hooligans & are promoting an attitude of Loud n Proud for 90 mins, 100% friendly before & after. If you see Mick, any problems let him know.

Re: Stewarding

just to further back that up Willie

after the Fulham game, where the Stanley fans had sung loud and long, with all manner of colour and pzzazz, there was a 'stand-off' between the stewards and Ultras. The stewards were not prepared to let the Ultras sing for an hour after the game - they did anyway. Fortunately the stewards were not quite stupid enough to attempt to manhandle the fans out of the ground - but they had already tried that with one or two well respected fans.

It's my opinion that they are currently trying to exert some sort of authority on the terrace - well authority is not needed. Rob Heys makes a big deal out of Stanley being a family club, the Clayton End is one big family and does not need any kind of 'bouncers'

If you have any issue with any steward then please ask him for his name and let the relevant people know about it.

Re: Stewarding

Most of the problems stem back to putting the seats in to meet FL criteria, with the advent of the away end changing to all seater at the end of the season which I would think would take the capacity even lower than it aready is?

Perhaps there is an option to take the seats back out of the front of the Clayton End to help push the Capacity back up and help spread people out.

In the short term there has to be a sensible approach and if it helps in anyway?

I will gladly help mitigate between Fans & Club if anyone wants to take me up on the offer please feel free to contact me:)

As earlier posted, in my experince any problems (scuffles, throwing onto pitch, racism, upset) was sorted out by the fans in the Clayton End who policed themselves and have no intention of damaging the clubs reputation.

The recent stewarding has left alot to be desired, they would benefit from a trip to Wycombe or Burton to see how stewarding should be done. Friendly welcome, good natured, leave you alone.
