Well now! Personally i'd have him back in a heartbeat. all time favourite and all that but where would he fit? Presumably Sligo was not the teaming metropolis he hoped for...

A favourite of mine in his time at Stanley a very Cultured player but we have moved on and have an abundance of midfield options already available to us, if there is one area we do need cover it has to be defence, where we have only one viable option from the bench:(

Must admit im also a fan of Murphy at Center Back.

He doesnt have the pace for full back where he has played this season on occasion and looked quite poor

Re: Reserve game today

IMO I dont think young lad Murphy is good enough certainly hasnt impressed me. Flynn looks like he might be a good prospect though and he looks more at ease on the ball.

Re: Reserve game today

With Liam Richardson injured, Murphy is the ideal replacement at left back.

I think Murphy needs more time and games, he is only young and always improving.

I wold have Boco back. He played a weird wing back position for Benin in the ANC and he would provide us with plenty of creativity from the back.

Anyway, who is the new guy we have signed/registered?

Jimmy is quoted in tomorrows Observer as he is unlikely to resign for us.

He is probably just keeping fit as it is the off-season at Sligo now.

From what I've read, Rommy was out of contract at Sligo at the end of last season, although Paul Cook is reported to be hoping to resign him before the new season starts in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile he's still living in Warrington and there are reports that he's been on trial at Doncaster Rovers.

There have been too many for old times sake signings at Stanley since our return to the League and I can't think of one that has lived up to their past glories?

Craney represented a good bit of business, perhaps. Fact is, not too many of the old boys have left for bigger and better things so we're not comparing like with like. Personally, if and old times sake signing can improve the squad, he's worth trying to get. If bigger clubs are looking at Romy then perhaps it's a no-go anyway but I'm not sure that a squad of 21 is big enough for a play off push, particularly as there are postponements to fit in. Still, that's what we pay john and jimmy to worry about...

the article on one of the Lincoln sites said that we hadn't received International Clearance in time for Rommy to play on tuesday. I thought I'd linked it but can't find it now. Artistic license or more to the story?

I for one would love to have Rommy back in the fold - probably be accused by some of sentimentality clouding my judgement - but he's a Stanley legend and I really think he could do a job for us. Come back Rommy - you know you want to (and you're way too good for Grimsby :) )
