Club News | Thursday 11th February 10 Posted by Richard Cross Share Midfielder Alan Burton has returned to Accrington Stanley after his loan spell at Marine The 18 year old who joined Marine on loan in September has now returned to Accrington Stanley and became the first player to sign up after the transfer embargo placed on Accrington was lifted last month. We wish Alan success at Accrington and thank him for his time at Marine which included 10 appearances [with 3 sub appearances] and 2 goals for the Club. |
Re: Alan Burton Signs Contract
As it stands, we have our usual-ish midfield of Captain Proccy, Vice Milesy, Luke and Jimmy, we have Sean - keep it in the family - McConville, John - never plays - Mullin, plus Kee, Grant and King, who can all do a good job in the middle of the park, plus the howlingly obvious CHRIS TURNER, so why do we need another midfielder, when we do not have a left back????? Then again, I am NOT a Footballing Genius!! :) :)

With a squad of 22/24 you can train 11 on 11????

Re: Alan Burton Signs Contract
I think you mean after Bobby Grant and Leam Richardson :D After watching Bobby at LB against Fulham, he is our No 1, but he is playing out of position - up front!!! :D :)

Re: Alan Burton Signs Contract
I think It can only be good news another youngster getting a professional deal.
Hopefully he can make the same impact as Grant & Turner |
Re: Alan Burton Signs Contract
When I have seen Burto play he seems profficent on the ball and has potential, the problem is as already mentioned we have an abundance of midfielders in fact probably enough to name a first eleven.
The other problem is the first eleven virtually picks itself and when a player does get a chance in the first team they have to shine from the outset or as we have seen the likelihood is they then disappear off the radar. The Academy has borne fruit and is a way forward for Clubs like Stanley to forge links with the Community etc. but unless potential is given a chance then like other Clubs in the higher leagues the conveyor belt grinds to a halt |
