statto --run in to the play offs
 

We have 17 games left to play 8 of which are against teams currently above us in the league or on the same points. 11 of these games are at home. I have had a quick look at the last three seasons results and the average number of points needed to make the play offs is 72, thats 26 points or 8.66 more wins than we have now. 17 games left divided by 2 is 8.5 so I guess what I am saying is can we win half of our remaining games?

I think we will beat Torquay. Grimsby, Rochdale,Darlington,Barnet,Burton, cheltenham, Port Vale and Macc

that would be 9 wins and a season end total of 73 points

what do you think!!

P.S I hope we can win at least 11 of our remaining games which would be 79 points !!!

it can be done, have said this since early season, its still a big ask given our resources, but never been as confident since the "Walter Galbraith" era.:)

A quick trawl shows that the last 17 league2 results have yielded 30 points (9wins 3draws). Same again would do nicely

It seems it can't cope with postponed matches, such as us v Burton, that have yet to be rearranged. You'll find that Darlington v Notts County is missing too.

Looking at the fixtures for the whole clubs here is my optimistic predictions !

Rochdale - Still have to hit a bad patch and I feel one could be coming up soon.
Bournemouth - Will still be around the 3/4th area
Chesterfield - Tough games for them to come I feel they will still be around come play offs
Rotherham - Need results to go there way but i feel 3rd is theres
Shrews - Possibly drop in form alittle maybe hanging in for play off place
Notts County - Will be promoted automatically IMHO. still.
Northampton - Slight chance if results go their way that they will get a spot.
Stanley - 6th or 5th spot is most likley in my opinion however if we our games in hand and a slip occurs by Notts County/Bury/Rochdale/Rotherham/Bournemouth then we have a chance of 3rd. Need to win around the 13 mark IMHO.

I still think we will at least make the play-offs:)

But I don't know if it's just me but everytime we seem to be in touching distance we lose or the game gets postponed is that a physcological thing:confused:

Just been on that prediction feature on the BBC website.....

Factoring in the odd bad result here and there, by my reckoning we'll probably end up with somewhere between 75-78 points which when inputting all the other results from other games puts us somewhere between 6th & 8th (assuming of course other results I entered may not go as expected):confused:

I think the cut off point for the play offs will be around the 75 point mark this year,so for me it's looking good if we can stay free from injuries,suspensions etc...On that point any news of the "signings" Coley was looking to make this week????:confused:

However.....To me it all hinges around the home form.....IF we pick up 8 or 9 wins from the 11 left at home and maybe 8-9 points from the 6 away games,so anywhere between another 32-36 points in total,then I think that would seal a play off spot.:D

:confused:Oy. Let's be careful guys!!:confused: Me and Redraine have noticed that when the Ultras start singing to the opposition that it is time to go home, because we are winning, we nearly always shoot ourselves in the foot!:dummy:
IMHO all this talk of predicting promotion /play offs is dodgy and could be the "Kiss of death".:eek: :mad:( I hope not).
It is an old cliche but let's just take every game as it comes and give the team n John and Jimmy our full support.:)
Really hope we can see off Torquay on Saturday and that our fans able to go continue our super away support. Singing / flags etc.:theband:
