Fans from Norway - need some help from the locals!
Hello there!
My friend and I are traveling from Norway this friday to watch the game against Notts County, but we have never been to Accrington before, so we could really need some advice on transportation and hotels in the surrounding area :D In short, we would really like to know: How to get from London to Accrington as quickly as possible :P If there are any nice hotels near crown ground And of course: Where we can but supporter equipment for the match! How to get from London to Accrington as quickly as possible
Train to Preston then Preston to Accrington If there are any nice hotels near crown ground Right across the road from the ground Norwood 349 Whalley Road Accrington, Get Directions 01254 398 132 And of course: Where we can but supporter equipment for the match! I've never used Norwood but have heard good reports about it

And I'm shocked I forgot to ask about local pubs! We wouldn't want to visit england without soaking in some of that great pub atmosphere :) |

4 good pubs very near the ground and the Norwood, you must go to Peel Park while your here, our original ground and a very god pub there

Thanks! We'll be making a mini-documentary, so Peel Park is definitely something we don't want to miss.
As for the anthems, I'm already singing them out loud. Which is quite interesting as I don't really know the melodies :P |

Dont forget to get into the CLAYTON END, with the flags, drum and superb atmosphere!! At this time of the year hotels shouldnt be fully booked however im when you get into accrington someone will point you in the right way and the stanley fan will help you in finding and directing you to a hotel, food, pubs etc.

Ultras hotel is half booked, just need to work on the girlfriend lads, the last guest stayed a week instead of a weekend!!!!!! Top breakfast & atmosphere it must be!!!!!

Hotel De La Ultra is pretty top notch.. Tugay even lives there.
Hope your made welcome to 'Accy' and enjoy your stay. Get yourself on the Clayton end and enjoy 90minutes of bedlam with the ultras. p.s I hate the joik song! doesn't compare to any of the stanley ultras songs! |

You Norwegian boys may well wish to consider an alternative to taking the train from London Euston to Preston and then changing on to Accy. Having done this journey every few weeks for a good 30 years, I have recently taken to taking the train from London to Manchester and from there taking a bus onwards to Accy. The bus station in Manchester is just round the corner from the rail station. The journey time to Preston/Manchester is normally about the same during the week - 2hrs 10mins - but this can be extended on saturdays/sundays. However, the bus journey once outside of Manchester is quite nice, albeit on the motorway - there are some great views of the Western Pennine foothills. In addition, the National Football Musuem has just moved from Preston to Manchester and you may wish to pay that a visit.The trains to Manchester normally run every 20minutes, as against every hour to Preston. But in any case, you will need to check on any railworks over the weekend. The respective websites are those of Virgin trains & National Rail Enquiries.
Irrespective of which hotel you decide to stay, you say you want to visit a few pubs. Whatever pubs you do decide to visit, then please make sure you drink proper English Ale - such as Thwaites lancaster Bomber or one of Moorhouse's fine brews - rather than the faggot juice which goes under the name of lager. Should you do decide to consume the latter than I can only guarantee that you will not enjoy the muck and will probably spend most of the weekend with your arses stuck over the toilet pan. |

Also I have had a text to say some of the usual norwegian crew are coming over for the same match so you need to contact them if you know some of the other norway accy supporters
