Re: Vs Notts County
Couldnt make it today, just seen the score.
What happened? Did the lads not turn up? Expect Coley to have them fired up for turning over Macclesfield on tuesday. |
Re: Vs Notts County
The worst I've seen us play all season; individually and collectively rubbish.
Maybe it was that ridiculousness with the ref early on that took away the lads' confidence, but there's no excuse for a showing like that. We were terrible. Drink to forget! |
Re: Vs Notts County
Their performance next Tuesday better be 110%...to make up for their -10 today ....pathetic!!
|
Re: Vs Notts County
Not a good game today!! We were plaing well up until when they got the penalty and then we had our hopes down. It just didn't go our way today but main thing is that we are staying up! :)
|
Re: Vs Notts County
I can take defeat if we play with spirit & balls
But Notts County wanted it more than we did, we came up aganst a decent side and were woefully short in every position on the pitch, Notts Countys third goal was amongst the best I have ever witnessed at the Crown Ground. We did have a few early chances which were at best bad misses, the ref made a complete cock up with the Stanley ruled out goal as it seemed the pressure from their players got to him. The alarm bells for me on Stanley's style of play were ringing after the Morecambe game and I have not seen it get any better, whether pressure is now beginning to show with the Management & Players only they will know? But Today really was Men against Boys:o |
Re: Vs Notts County
Table updated dropped to 14th but still got 3/4 games in hand on most teams above us.
Hope the person who collapsed today is OK, anybody heard how she is |

Re: Vs Notts County
Men against boys sums it up quite well I think.
Rogers probably scored the best goal ive seen from an opposition player all season at the Crown. Had a great chat with some County fans aswell outside the ground. I think they summed up our last few games................ "What happened to you lot today, you where the best side at our ground earlier in the season but today you looked woeful" :( :( Outplayed for about 80 of the 90 minutes. Turner yet again doesnt start??? Who knows what Coley is thinking???? Im hoping we can bounce straight back Tuesday night. |
Re: Vs Notts County
Very poor display today. How badly does the team have to play before changes are made ? Baffled ?
|
Re: Vs Notts County

McConville, Ryan, Joyce, Turner The reasoning being McConville & Turner have the natural flair to go at full backs and ping crosses in whilst also having the pace to track back to provide defensive cover if needed, Ryan he has the capability to unlock defences with his range of passing and surges into the final third with wing support brings us something without the wings we are currently lacking, Joyce as the midfield holding player to break things up in the centre of the park and help fill the hole in front of the back four. Football is all about opinions and that is mine |
Re: Vs Notts County
It would make for a more balanced midfield, though I don't think we'll see the captain dropped any time soon.
I'd go for a complete reshuffle on Tuesday: Dunbavin Joyce Edwards Flynn Winnard Turner Procter Ryan Grant Symes Kee Thought for a while that Bobby's been struggling up front against the bigger centre-halves. God knows where Kempo's head is at the minute; every pass he tried today went wayward. For all his maturity at such a young age, Tom Lees' distribution isn't good enough either. I doubt we'll see anything resembling that but as Google Page Ranking says; opinions, opinions. |
Re: Vs Notts County
Maybe the embargo may yet come back to haunt us but only in terms of bring better players in?

Re: Vs Notts County
How many points have to slip away before Coley comes to his senses and realises that he has to change things round? Turner and Kee should be starting against Macc, even if it means having to drop 2 Scousers, unthinkable as that may be. Bobby needs to be rested, as he just can't get on the end of the hoofballs when up against uncompromising defenders and his first touch nearly always lets him down. After missing 2 good chances early on he struggled to make an impact, and although he had a couple of good free kicks, they were never going to trouble a keeper of Schmeichel's ability. MOM for me was Kempo by a mile.
Can anyone throw any light on the shenanegins with our disallowed goal? |
Re: Vs Notts County
I thought they were re-inventing the Hokey Cokey you put the ball in, the ball out and shake your head and hands all about
|
Re: Vs Notts County
How can a whole team influence the referee and linesman to disallow a goal even when the linesman didn't raise the flag.? Is this a new rule recently brought into the game? It seemed to me the referee changed his mind 3 times. This was probably a turning point in the game.

Re: Vs Notts County
I think Grant and Symes need a rest. Get King and Kee up front King (although I have't seen him play much) looks like he has a bit of flair and Kee has his strength and eye for goal. Also Winnard, Kempson need a rest so if Richardson and O'Flynn are available get them in. Ryan can be swapped for Mullin as I think we need a bit of experience when we're in a bit of a bad run.
|
Re: Vs Notts County
Think it will be difficult to change so many players, as its quite obvious Coley doesnt rate many of our reserves/ players on the bench.
Only change I can see Coley making is Turner for Joyce....... If it was me................. Bouzanis Lees Edwards Flynn Winnard Turner Ryan Proccy Grant Kee Symes |

Re: Vs Notts County
They just didnt turn up today. County werent a brill team and on another day we could have beaten them. I think its time for a change now. Two losses in a row sticking to the same tired legs. Give Kee a run out and be more attacking. Joyce,Ryan and Proccy are too similar players all to be playing in the same team and get under each others feet. Come on accy it aint over yet, be proud play with passion.

Re: Vs Notts County

Do you really think Coleman would choose a player over another because of where he was born and raised? Notts County are a good team, role on tuesday and 3 points. If Macc use the same 5 at the back tactic as the away game then 3 strikers may be a better option with Grant and King playing wide with Kee as the main target man. |

Re: Vs Notts County
People need to see this game in the perspective of a full season.
The club was on the breach of ending, our previous record in league 2 has been about relegation avoidance and crowds continue to be below the conference level. Play offs or not this season (and its still possible), it has been great be looking upwards as opposed to behind. |
Re: Vs Notts County
I agree Dav.
Im just delighted to have a football club to be honest. Its just massively disappointing losing when we know we can beat anybody in this division on our day |
Re: Vs Notts County
Quote:
Like it or not success brings it's own rewards in terms of bigger crowds and rewards off the field, keep in the mix till the end of the season get the season tickets sorted and we may break this seasons records for sales This team right from the kick-off this season has played good football until lately where route one seems to have made a return, we have better players than that, it is a squad game if players are genuinely knackered or just going through a bad spell rotate the squad give others a chance to prove themselves. Expectation levels have increased this season in respect of some of the great results and runs we have put together in the League & Cups and that in itself brings it's own pressure with teams perhaps looking at us as a "Big Scalp"? I genuinely believed this Team were good enough from August for Automatic Promotion, I still believe we may make the play-offs but the corner has to be turned soon. I pesonally will be massively disappointed if we don't make the play-offs because I know we are good enough and that is my frustration |
Re: Vs Notts County
I just think that after we went 1 down, things changed, I felt as though we had had some bad luck - should have had a goal, but did not, their penalty was very soft, Bavs saved it, but they still scored!! That was how I was thinking/feeling after half an hour and I think that after watching the rest of the game, that is how some of the players played out the rest of the match! I guess what I am trying to say is that some of the lads felt sorry for themselves and that it was not going to be "Our Day"
This is understandable, as we are all only human, but as many have alluded to, fresh legs and fresh faces, may have made a difference. Just my opinion :) We are still in the best position that we have ever been in and yes we are upset at not being in playoffs, but it beats - hands down - looking for those last three wins to get us to safety!!!! :) :) |
Re: Vs Notts County
Let's be honest, we could/should have been 2 up in the first quarter hour. Bobby Grant missed two sitters. Yes, the referee was a banker - too many fouls went unpunished in addition to the goal/non-goal and dubious penalty.
Michael Symes looked tired, I thought. I too am mystified by the failure to have Chris Turner in the starting 11. I thought there were two big differences between the teams yesterday. County were quicker, and they were able to pass the ball into space knowing that a player would be there to run onto it. If we are not hoofing it down the middle, we always want to play to feet. Having said all that, I don't share the doom and gloom of some comments. We were beaten by a dubious penalty, a tragic error by our most reliable player, and an outstanding goal, whilst having a goal of our own disallowed in strange circumstances. |
Re: Vs Notts County
Agree 100% with that Joe, the decisions on the goal that wasn't/was/wasn't changed the game, our lads let it affect them when on another day they would have dug in & vowed not to be cheated out of a game.
No, we didn't play well but to be honest I didn't think County were any great shakes either but when Mr. A. Hall (aptly named I thought) allowed their players to influence his decision on our 'goal' he lost control of the game & the respect of the players on both sides. Mistakes were made by a few yesterday but I thought for Coley to squarely put the blame on Phil was unfair, yes he made a big mistake for the second goal but how often does anything like that happen with Phil? I think the amount of games we've had to play with such a small squad is taking it's toll on the lads and maybe the decision to have a friendly with Wrexham this week (the only one for a while when we had no midweek game) was maybe not the right one. That said, I reckon we'll be back on track on Tuesday - yes we're having a blip but as others have said at least we know we're not going to be in a relegation dog-fight this season. On Stanley On! |

i left yesterday in protest due to the goal that he gave then changed his mind when he got mugged by lee hughes and co....its just not fair. i was really mad and asked a steward to let me out. I did wait until the 2nd goal. sick to the stomach. how many more teams are going to get robbed this season by a dodgy ref.

Notts County are on the telly now, their pitch is awful, looks like they have had a farm show on it. It makes our pitch look like Wembley (the old one).
