Re: York - Oh dear :(
If you look really closely you can still see the broken concrete where the barrier was pushed down on the far side. :D However, at that time Fleetwood were reknown for trouble. I went to a League Cup final at Maine Road and Fleetwood fans were fighting in lumps with Mossley fans.
And then there was the corner flag throwing incident a couple of years later against Northallerton. Lest said the better about that. ;) |
Re: York - Oh dear :(
Here's me trying to recruit new fans and you lot doing your best to put 'em off! Mick, and anyone else thinking of coming, these incidents were long ago in a different era. The Fleetwood mob were a particularly noxious lot (I remember a cartoon in the much-missed "Barber's Pole" fanzine showing Dr Doolittle doing his talking to the animals bit with them.) But they're long gone. I can't emphasise this enough - the IES is a safe, friendly environment and well worth a visit with the family.

Re: York - Oh dear :(
The Dr Dolittle cartoon was a classic! :D
I agree, though, there hasn't even been a hint of trouble at the IES for a very, very long time. It is a safe and friendly place to visit for anyone. Long may it continue. :) |
