Ian Craney

Glad to see the boy Craney is doing well. You've got yourselves a top quality player and I hope he continues to excell himself.

Re: Ian Craney

Too true! Excellent in the pre-season friendlies. Slight dip in performance in our opener against Burton I thought but, as you say, a top quality player and one at a top quality club!

Alty365 18-08-2004 14:50

Re: Ian Craney

Let's hope he keeps up this level of performance and moves on to a really big club. I'll watch his progress with interest.

Regards,

Alty365. Come on Alty!!!!

Hey Alty365, Ian is already at THE biggest club. How can he possibly better the experience of playing and scoring for Accrington Stanley..

Ah, I see you're still as obnoxious as ever Mr Hornsucker.

Re: Ian Craney

Well of course I want the sell on clause!! Does the name Brett Ormerod ring any bells? Surely you realise after his success, the impact such a move would have on our club. I'm not saying the Ormerod money was the only source of income for you, but it was certainly a big factor in the turnaround in your fortunes. We just hope that the Craney deal might bear addtional fruit for us in the future and therefore it's good to see him continuing to shine, irrespective of who he currently plays for.

Jimbo T Hornblower 19-08-2004 08:22

Re: Ian Craney

I agree with you - I never said you didnt want a sell on clause - good business acumen and all that - my point is the comment wouldnt have been there if there was no sell on clause - tell me it would....

Of course it wouldn't. **:o)

Re: Ian Craney

Hehehe that was the point I was making - not the fact that Craney is crap and wouldnt progress (with or without us - thats up to him obviously) or that I begrude the deal our clubs agreed on. I hear the goal he scored for us on Tuesday night was not too disimilar to a goal scored by the same man on a Tuesday night in December at Moss Lane not too long ago (81st minute was it? - Gutted :) )

Re: Ian Craney

That was some strike - I remember it well. If you leave Jamie Speare grasping at air like that, you know it must have been a great strike. You'll be seeing plenty more where that came from I assure you! The frightening thing is, you seem to have a multitude of players capable of the same thing. I can't see you finishing outside the playoff places at the very least. It's very early days, but you have too much quality in that squad.

I'm not saying Alty are on the same plain yet, but we certainly have a vastly inmproved squad this year and the opening fixtures have provided a more than pleasant surprise to our fans. Long may it continue!!! (We're not getting carried away yet though!)

Why would him pointing out the sell on clause result in you describing him as obnoxious and then go on to call him childish names... I know its posh in alty but thats going a bit far :)

I think we've got past that stage of the conversation now.

The smile reference was to my post not his. I didn't expect him to smile. he is an alty fan. whats he gonna smile about?

Alty365 19-08-2004 11:45

Re: Ian Craney

Hahaha. Im very happy with the start to our season at the moment so I'm smiling lots about that thank you.

:) :) :)

Supporting Alty always makes me smile, because although we've not had the best of times in recent years we (the Alty fans) all love our club and wouldn't miss matches for the world, no matter who we're playing, be it Doncaster or Droylsden. I understand that you would look at our position and think we'd have nothing to smile about, but when you look at clubs like Telford going out of business it makes you realise that we have done exceptionally well to keep our club alive. That's pretty good reason to smile in my eyes. We've got a long way to go, but we are very much alive and kicking. We are under no illusion that we deserve to be any higher up than we are by right and we're relishing the opportunity to compete in what I regard as a better league than the old Unibond Prem.

Anyway, irrespective of any past comments I wish you good luck for the season.

Despite any past history between the clubs/supporters, I wish Altrincham well and I hope you have a successful season. I'd much rather see you back up here with us than the likes of Leigh for instance! Ian Craney may well move on eventually (not for a few seasons though I hope) and may that move substantially benefit both our clubs.

Regards

Sounds like a plan to me!!

See you soon....

Re: Ian Craney

Craney wont need to move on as the whole club of Accrington Stanley will have moved on in a few seasons playing in the football league back were we belong!!
