symes ?? leaving
heard a rumour today that michael symes wants to leave because he doesn`t want to play division two football and if an offer comes in for him he`ll go can anybody confirm or deny this rumour
|
Re: symes ?? leaving
Symes leaving has been on the cards since December, it should not come as a suprise to anyone.
I am informed we are set to pick up recently released Crewe midfielder Danny O'Donnell? Is it to replace John Mullin? Is John Mullin retiring or moving on? |
Re: symes ?? leaving
rumours, rumours, lets see what happens over the summer, must look after him to keep him though,
|
Re: symes ?? leaving
He has been offered more cash, but as he has said this week, he would like to play at a higher level!! If Dale come in for him, he will probably go, let's just wait and see.

Re: symes ?? leaving

Re: symes ?? leaving
Friday's Bellylaugh (L.E.T.) had an article stating that yesterday may have been his last game for Stanley, with little snippets like Keith Hill (Dale) were interested in him and quotes that Symes "would like to play at a higher level".
From personal opinion, this situation has been on the cards since Symes hasn't signed an improved deal (if there ever was one on the table) and you can't blame the lad for wanting to play at a higher level. However we know that the club only ever had one concrete offer (Grimsby), the club rejected the money and Symes obviously didn't want to go to a club that have inevitably dropped to the B.S.P.:o It would be nice if Symes repaid a bit of the faith that Coley & Bell placed in the lad and signed up for another twelve months, maybe putting a contract on the table with a clause allowing Symes to leave if the club received a suitable offer from a club at a higher level that was mutually beneficial to all parties concerned, although I suspect that an agent has become involved. If that's the case I fear that it won't matter what Coley & Bell try to do to keep him, the agent will inevitably try hold the club to ransom or negotiate a better deal for Symes elsewhere.:( I'd be sorry to see Symes go but I think there's players out there who Coley would probably have half an eye on now, especially as it's now the annual clear out season. That Tadgh Purcell from Darlington has reportedly refused to sign a new deal for them, I wouldn't like to guess what sort of wage he'd be after but he'd be the sort of player that would fit the bill. Only time will tell.... |
Re: symes ?? leaving
According to the Telegraph, he's signed for Bournemouth:

Not a surprise he has gone :(, but thanks for this season Symesy you where superb.
Coley really has got his work cut out now! |
Re: symes ?? leaving
Good Luck Symesy, will be missed.:(
|
Re: symes ?? leaving
Hardly a shock, as he made it clear he wasn't going to sign unless a better offer didn't come along & to be honest would we really want anyone signing just to 'make do' I certainly wouldn't - bit of a surprise that it's Bournemouth as he wasn't too well received in his loan spell there but I suppose that was under a different manager & it may be different this time around as he has now learned where the net is :)

Re: symes ?? leaving
Hope Bournemouth get longer than 3-4 months out of him,as since January he was a different player.
As is the case with Kempson apparently a club that offers regular league football and puts players back on the map, very little loyalty is shown!! Stanley can find better than these two and I am sure John & Jimmy will do. |
Re: symes ?? leaving
Meanwhile, Andy Todd has re-signed for Eastwood:
NonLeagueDaily.com I know it's a little off-topic but it's not worth starting a separate thread, is it? |

Contracts Latest from fishy site
Friday 4th Jun 2010 Stanley Contracts Update Darran Kempson has signed a 2-year deal with Grimsby Town. Kempson made 50 appearances for the Reds last season before his departure. Michael Symes has signed for promoted Bournemouth. Symes had rejected a new contract at the Crown Ground and leaves after scoring 19 goals last season. Former Stanley loanee Billy Kee signed for Torquay United this week. The Reds had hoped that Kee would sign on following his release from Leicester City but the youngster opted for a 2-year deal at United. |
Re: symes ?? leaving
I suppose it's better weather in Bournemouth, but other than that I wouldn't like to live there; a ghastly place, full of old codgers and french language students. Yuk!

Lindfield back at Stanley - Accrington Observer
Least we have a couple of players in now and a few more signed up, so at least we have a first eleven and a cuple of subs:) |
Re: symes ?? leaving
Good read that article.
Better news........... At Last :) |
Re: symes ?? leaving
Good read, so we have the basics of a Team:-
So far, signed up, are goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin, defenders Phil Edwards, Dean Winnard, Peter Murphy and Hall; midfielders Jimmy Ryan, Andy Procter, John Miles, Chris Turner, Luke Joyce, Alan Burton and Sean McConville and striker Lindfield. Bavs had his best season last time out, so if he improves again?? Love Lindfield and really hope he can do it for us next season :) :) Maybe McConville will be the new Bobby Grant - let's hope so!! Hope that next season Murph can get the chance to show us how good he is!! At least we are getting some names on paper!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) |

Re: symes ?? leaving
Don,t anyone take this as sour grapes but I think Symsey has ideas above his station his career was on it,s bum before Coley worked his magic.Good luck to him but I hope it don,t come back and bite him, plus what are the chances of Bore-mouth staying up IMHO slim.
|
Re: symes ?? leaving
Good luck to Symesy, he had a very good season for us last year and I do think he had his head turned with the speculation in January but he was not the only one.
It will be interesting to see how his career develops from here on in |
Re: symes ?? leaving
I have never denied he can change matches, but 2 and a half good games all season is not good enough for me mate im afraid.
|
Re: symes ?? leaving
uve changed ur tune mate, been singin his praises all season,if he had two and a half good games, bobby had one and kee half, sounds like sour grapes,

Re: symes ?? leaving

Re: symes ?? leaving
Also from fishy site
Coley Swoops For Duo John Coleman has boosted the squad ahead of pre-season with the signings of striker Craig Lindfield and defender Michael Hall on one year deals. More to follow... so not just one, but two. Welcome back Craig and welcome Michael |
Re: symes ?? leaving
Blackburn Rovers | Team | Reserves | Michael Hall
That Michael Hall? He can play in midfield as well. |
Re: symes ?? leaving
interesting profile, wi a wide range of passing ability, that puts him streets ahead of Kempson fer starters.;)
|
Re: symes ?? leaving
But not as much experience...

Re: symes ?? leaving
A natural left back is something we were crying out for last season although Dean Winnard filled the role I think he will be much more suited to going to central defence, also if Michael Hall can also play left midfield it may give us a bit better balance going forward with maybe proper wing back options.

Re: symes ?? leaving
2 good signings for me
|
Re: symes ?? leaving
smudgie, why do you want heys out? just noticed your signature? what's he done wrong, been forced into the role of O'Neill's puppet.
So does Hall's arrival indicate Richardson won't be staying? |
Re: symes ?? leaving
Everyone knew this was coming so for one im not suprised but still gutted at heart tbh! He wasnt the complete player and most of his goals were put on a plate for him! However he still had the skill to finish them and get the goals! Alot of strikers can get in a good position, do all the work etc but then not finish for toffee! Him and Bobby Grant were superb! Bobby with the little runs and superb crosses etc and then Symes finished them off. Also Bobby scoring a nice amount led to our nearly promotion push!
Symes going is going to be hard to replace but id rather of had him go then Bobby! Bobby was turning into a complete player , thats why Scunny see the potential! I dont think Craig Lindfield is that much cop, hes a superb bloke and even when not playing for anyone came to away and home games all the time!! His heart is their.....well who knows! I hope but i dont have that much of it! As for Sean, i really dont think so Joe. He`s too lightweight and just not good enough, nothing ive seen last season from him showed he had potential! It was a big move up the leagues for him, too big i think. We should loan him out to a conference side for next season!!! Personally id like to see Mangan back, great potential!! |
Re: symes ?? leaving
Mangan? The player who betted against us?
|
Re: symes ?? leaving
To be fair to Craig, I don't think anybody saw the potential of Grant & Symes as to the Strikers they became till a few games into the Season.
There are players out there at this level who will do a job and money may not be the be all and end all at this stage of their careers. One who caught my eye a few seasons ago while at FC United was Kyle Wilson who signed for Macc last season but didn't play too many games for them and has been released. |

I couldent care if he was a stanley player or not, he couldent hit a barn door for us and was a gambler.
Fingers crossed he wont be back. |
Re: symes ?? leaving
i think the lads coley has bought in will do a good job for us need 2 more strikers to put a bit of pressure on those who dont perform,id have rather had kept symesy before grant or kee,he scored goals, took all the knocks and bangs that big centre forwards do, and unselfishly set up most of bobbys and kees efforts, great for us.just got to try to brick up the defence,
