Re: Kee released by Leicester............

Now that would be something special if we could sign Billy Kee. If it came down to it I'd rather see us sign Kee than Symes. Don't see it happening though. Especially seeing as there's an agent involved!

Re: Kee released by Leicester............

Wouldent go as far as that Shaker, no doubt he would be a superb signing.

He has the quality we need without a doubt!

Re: Kee released by Leicester............

I agree Smudgie in that he would be a very astute signing for the Reds

He was one of a rare breed at that age in that he is already natural goalscorer, he showed that for us last season with some timely and important goals.

I would be looking to take him on as Symes's natural progressor with the empahasis being he will be one of the front two next season that may just sway it?

But whatever happens he will go on to have a good career in the game:)

Only for the reason that Billy is younger (therefore has more potential to improve) and more prolific (better goals per game ratio; 0.47 to Symes' 0.39) really. Symes gives us a lot in moving the ball around in the final third, but we have attacking midfield players (Ryan and Miles) who can do that and we should look to utilise that area more. Mainly because that's where the games were being lost during our baron spell. As Pendle says, if we can offer Billy one of the main striker roles perhaps that will sway it. All in my humble, of course. :)

Re: Kee released by Leicester............

we have a budget of (apparently) £10k per week, and Billy would take a significant portion of that, however, if he is ameniable to the idea of signing for us then we would reap back a whacking transfer fee when we do move him on. Perhaps it's wrong to know you are signing a player in order to get a fee for him at some point but he is a shining example of how that could happen. 20 goals for him next season would see him become a £300k striker.

Stretch the budget please Stanley purse string fella's!!!!

Exactly the lines i was thinking on, speculate to accumulate, would do both Billy n Stanley good IMHO.

Very good point Macca, let's hope that somebody at the club thinks like that and at least has a go at getting him :)

I understand the sentiment Rob but I would think the days of high earning players at the Club have gone bearing in mind twelve months ago and also there has to be a sensible balance of wage structure for every player the last thing we need on top of everything else is perhaps discontent between players on who is on what?

I also understand no doubt as he has already proved himself at this level, he will improve and go on to bigger and better things probably commanding transfer fees on the way but it is a gamble to stretch finances & budgets to achieve that goal but if Billy did come back I would be delighted and it would be a great fillip for the Club & Supporters alike.:)

would be good to have billy back next season, i think his explotes last season will stand him in good stead, and its always good to play little fella with a big lad upfront, he worked very well with michael some great interchanges and goals between the two were great,ie notts county, barnet, michaels hold up play and billys movement, but to put billy before michael, must be joking, for me anyone along side michael.our prob is at the back, has been all season.

I think the reality is more finely balanced than that, just as Michael is weighing up his options so should the Club even if that means planning for life after Michael

Re: Kee released by Leicester............

I'd really hope the club are exhausting all possible avenues / options to get Kee to sign. As others have said, speculate to accumulate.

In my opinion the club would hardly be taking a speculative gamble by offering Kee a deal. We all know his talent and have seen that the lad has promise. Hardly a gamble !!!:D

Had we been a little bolder as a club, we would have reaped a reward by signing Carl Baker. That time a fee was involved (£50k reportedly??) which the club weren't prepared to pay. A couple of seasons down the line he went for big money and the club missed out on a big pay day with probably sell on clauses.:(

This time the financial question is the wage and a contract, no transfer fee involved. If we're to go anywhere near challenging for promotion and invest in the future, surely signing Kee has to rank as a priority, likewise getting the other main men tied down to contracts longer than a season.:o

Hiya, a peek at my username would tell you where I'm from.

Torquay United in the mix for Irish striker Billy Kee

We've apparently agreed a deal in principle to sign Billy Kee, and going by your comments on him, we're quite chuffed to be strongly linked with such a player.

I can't see Kee returning unfortunately for you guys. I know that he loved the fans and was very grateful for his opportunity for his first year in senior football. However, I feel that Coleman see's Kee as more of an impact sub and he needs to be starting games this coming season.

If Coleman was serious about signing Kee, why leave him on the bench for the last game of the season when he had previosuly scored your last 3 goals?

After meeting Billy on several occasions, I know that money won't be the major factor in any transfer, he is simply looking for a suitable club to further his career. Ultimately getting as many minutes as possible is vital.

A lot of us at Leicester were suprised he wasn't kept on, although I feel this is a blessing in disguise as it means no compensation will now be payable. For you guys who clearly rate hime, I hope Coleman can persuade him to sign.

I just wish him all the best for his career.

Symes and Grant were fantastic all season and Kee was very effective off the bench. With Grant gone I'd imagine Billy would have a much bigger role next season and would become a much better player for it. Stanley would be the perfect place to continue his development and if anyone can persuade him to sign, coley can!
