BBC Sport - Football - Scunthorpe set to sign Accrington striker Bobby Grant
Could still fail the medical :) haha Good luck bobby dont forget where you started |
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
Not entirely unexpected but it is a Big move up two leagues
I concur with your thought WM on any tribunal fee being given to Coley I suppose from Scunny's point of view it will be low risk move with not having to pay a full transfer fee for Grant, from the players point of view he will have to now show what he can do and step away from the safety net Stanley have provided for him over the last few seasons. Good Luck to Bobby it now makes the need for a left sided midfielder and a striker even more pressing from the Red's point of view. |
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
Gutted but good luck to the lad

Get Kee signed up with the dosh
|
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
Gutted to say the least, when I spoke to him at O.S.C. Do, he said all he was waiting for was the contract and he would be signing, but, I suppose it must be looked upon as a very good chance for the lad and not one to be missed, still gutted, no Grant and no Symes, Coley is really going to have to work wonders next season!!

Scunthorpe?!
Can't blame Bob for moving to a Championship side, however it's not unlikely to see us in League One alongside Scunthorpe in a couple of seasons. Think if he had another season with us he could've got a better/more established Championship club out of it. But maybe the pittance of a budget that Coley has to work with is already working against him? Best of luck to Bobby, hope he goes on to great things. More hope goes into the result of this tribunal, we developed him, we should get a decent fee. <a href="http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)" smilieid="8" class="inlineimg" /> |

Craney was inspirational & inventive first time around, second time around showed glimpses of his past glories but they were sporadic.
It's no use keep looking back we have to move on, forward, we have enough midfielders barring a left sided one at the end of the day It's a football club not friends reunited, I suppose I mean by that don't let sentiment & emotions cloud your judgement |

[quote=Nickelson;817299]Gutted isn't the word !
Wonder what fee we will command from the tribunal? It depends on a number of things, including Youth development costs, medical information, value to club, games played etc. What I do belive is we have the FACTS to prove our youth + medical dept do a FANtastic job, and hopefully this will result in a FAIR fee!!!:) |
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
Is it right that we paid for some operation prior to him playing professional football or did I dream that?

Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
Gutted....though you can't blame the lad. However the fact that it will be decided by tribunal doesn't fill me with much optimism. :(
They're notorious for undervaluing players. Will they impose a clause on the deal??? Will the fee they have to pay reflect the TRUE value of the lad and his undoubted potential??? Can we replace Grant and Symes with like for like and players who can drive the club forward??? This news coupled with the possibility; and realistically, probability of Symes off to pastures new, makes signing Kee a must.:o Hope Coley enjoyed his holiday....the hard work starts now and he'll have to act fast to get suitable replacements snapped up, before all we're left with is other folks dead wood to choose from. He's going to have to rebuild our entire front line from scratch. And this will teach the club a harsh lesson. In the future they will have to tie key players down on longer term contracts. Otherwise this scenario may come back to bite us on the posterior again.:( |

Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
absoulty gutted!! grant was a great younger striker/winger! loved watching him play his passion for the game!! his engery everything!! good luck to him no doubt he will be on quite abit more than he is at Stanley and to play infront of alot of people!! just hoping the money can be put to good use!! and think it also says something about our academy as he came through that natured by coley and jb!! good luck bobby
|
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
we need to get players on bigger contracts now ... good look bobby .... beach 4 you now .. but good luck
|
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
Think if he goes to Scunny, that whilst going up the ladder, aint the best move fer him, no disrespect to Scunny, think the lad would do much better, if he remained at stanley fer 1 more season, also so would stanley, don't wish bobby any ill will, but think he's being a bit numb.
|
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
he's probery talked to coley jb and other players!! he's 19 getting to play in championship on better wages infront of 10000 people!! I know what I would do at 19!! good luck to him hope it all works out!! hes going have a great career!!
|
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
I wouldn't rush to spend any money from the tribunal, they are still sorting last summers stuff out yet

Good choice for Bobby tbh! Little Championship club that he can shine!! with not as much pressure as other clubs!!
Absolutely gutted though! Amazing guy and a superb player!! Well be very much missed as a player and also a person within the club! Always had a chat with fans after and before the match!! His heart was with Stanley!!! and thats why we all wish him well! He loved the club and also loved Coley and the fans!! He must have a very good offer their and a deal he couldnt refuse!! Playing football is a job and if he can earn more money and achieve more things higher up the leagues then thats fair enough! Good luck Bobby, superb bloke!! |

Chelsea player former Manchester City prodigy’s talent and ability is not in doubt, but his attitude and aptitude will decide how long it is before he overtakes Salomon Kalou in the pecking order — and then starts challenging Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba for a starting role. A tribunal decided the Blues would pay an initial fee of £3.5 million for Sturridge. With the confidence that he can cut it at the highest level, that fee should prove a bargain over time..... :):)We may get a 10th of this with a sell on writen in to the contract:):D |

Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
Evenin' all,
Scunny fan in peace. Seems that most of you are disappointed he's leaving so thats a good sign. Would have been flapping a bit if the general view had been you were pleased to see the back of him. I understand we had a bid turned down for him last week (just the opening gambit i assume) and that you boys value him arouind £200k perhaps with a few add ons? If thats the case then i'd be surprised if it ever saw a tribunal, a compromise will be reached i'd have thought. You certainly wont want to take your chances with a tribunal and will want the funds ASAP and we wont want it hanging over until next season so a deal will be done i think. A couple of season we brough in Martin Paterson from Stoke and the tribunal was delayed until after the start of the season. Here was a lad who couldnt get in Stoke's reserves and just had a few games experience out on loan in League 2. We expected to pay around £150k for him but by the time the tribunal sat he was scoring plenty of goals in the CCC. The tribunal werent meant to take that into account but of course they do, it's natural. So, we got hammered for £350k with sell ons on top. Thats not a route we'll go down again i think! Scunny will be a good move for him if he's able to step up. We are by far and away the smallest club in the CCC and cant compete with any of the sides in that league cash wise so we have to shop around the lower leagues and conference. We bring young players in, polish them up a bit and then wave goodbye when a bigger club comes in for them In the last few years we've shifted Andy Keogh to Wolves (850k), Billy Sharp to Sheff Utd (2m), Paterson to Burnley (1.2m) etc etc. Next out the door will be Gary Hooper, who couldnt get a game for Southend's reserves when we signed him but has scored 50 in the last two seasons and looks like he's off to Celtic for the fat end of £2.5m. So, all in all, if he's got the wherewithalls it's a move that will work out well and there will be few quid for everyone when he moves on - us with the big fee and you with the initial sale price and subsequent sell on. One things that interests me though. His scoring record has shown a marked upward curve this season (i appreciate he hadnt played that many games for you prior to that point). Has he been playing all season up front or switching between the wing and up front? Best of luck anyway for next season |
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
ya got a real promising kid yon mate, will be missed big time here, as we are smaller club than you, know the script, hope the lad does well fer ya n hes a good kid to boot.:)

Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
Yes Andy,,,,,,,,,, Grant has been a striker more or less this season and has looked like a different player.
Previously he had been a bit part player on our left wing but never looked that great if im honest. Some of his goals have been genuinely superb, and to me there is no doubt he can do a job in the Championship. In terms of some people complaining about the club only giving players 1 year deals I do think that is abit short sighted. We all know the state of our finances and put quite simply the club wasnt in a position to offer more players 2 year deals. Especially as Symes & Grant at the beginning of the season where both on the bench !!! Remember that from the turn of the year Grant & Symes have both had deals on the table it has been up to them whether to sign or not. I can understand them not signing but it is disappointing none the less. |
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
have they had deals though as coley and jb were suppose to sign deals and that took ages! we should have add ons like goals, sell on fee etc! if he keeps playing well could possible get england call up! now he's going be playing on divison below the primier league

Gutted, & I think Bobby would have benefitted from one more season with us but can't blame him for wanting to take a shot at Championship football & wish him all the luck in the world at Scunthorpe, although maybe if Stanley hadn't stalled on offering him a contract he'd still be a red :(

Tuesday 25th May 2010 http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/gfx/news/ball.gifhttp://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/gfx/news/line.gif Robert Grant agrees Scunthorpe deal http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/g...bert_grant.jpgRobert Grant is set to leave the Crown Ground after agreeing personal terms with Championship side Scunthorpe United. The left footed winger who has played up front for much of this season had a medical yesterday and has now agreed a deal at Glanford Park. Bobby was out of contract this summer however as he is under the age of 24 a fee will be payable to Accrington Stanley for our part in his development since he joined us in July 2006. A product of our youth development programme at the club, the 19 year old has made 77 appearances for Stanley, netting 19 times, the majority of which have been in this last season. Discussions have been ongoing over the last week or so however with the two clubs having differing opinions on his worth the fee now looks set to be decided by a tribunal. |
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
2 questions. (1) When will Tribunal Decide the Fee? (2) Will Coley be given this money, now the club aint in debt?

Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
It's all here if you can be bothered:
FA Rules & Regs (ii) There shall be no right to a compensation or transfer fee by the previous Club of a Player who has attained the age of 24 years on or before 30th June and whose contract with that Club has expired. If a Club wishes to offer re-engagement to a Player or exercise an option contained in the agreement the following practice shall prevail. As Bobby Grant isn't 24 it looks like Stanley will get something out of it. |
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
Don't think his contract runs out until the end of next month and we have offered him a new contract so we are entitled to compensation (transfer fee). If we had not offered him a new contract we wouldn't be entitled to anything.

Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
It's a dream come true for Bobby BOBBY Grant has described his switch from Accrington Stanley to Scunthorpe United as a 'dream come true' as he looks forward to plying his trade in the Championship for the first time. Grant, 19, was impressive form last season in the famous red of Stanley, netting 18 goals in all competitions, which meant a lot of extra attention for the youngster who had been on the radar of a number of Championship clubs, a list which included the likes of Queens Park Rangers. The Liverpool born winger come forward will sign a two-year deal with Scunthorpe when his contract runs out at the Crown Ground in June, after snubbing Stanley's offer of a similar length of contract. Grant told scunthorpe-united.co.uk that he was very happy to have signed for The Irons, and was looking forward to a new challenge in an higher league. 'This is a fresh start for me and hopefully I can perform now for Scunthorpe.' Grant told the club's official website. 'I had a great season at Accrington last year, and I managed to hit a few goals. 'My agent then got in touch and told me that Scunthorpe were interested. 'As soon as I heard that there was only one place I was going, I couldn't turn this move down no matter what. 'I just want to get into the team and perform well at such a high stage and Scunthorpe have given me a chance to play at that level.' |
Re: Bobby Grant Gone :(
Bit of something to mull over:
"In setting this compensation fee, the PFCC took into account the costs of training and development, the player's age and playing record, the length of time he was registered with his former club, the terms offered by both clubs, the fee paid by the former club in acquiring the player's original registration, the status of the two clubs and the interest shown by other clubs in acquiring the registration of the player." |
