He was greatful to coley for getting him back in the football league. But then drops down to non league... Makes no sense. Money grabber.

I think your being a tad harsh on GI, he was out of contract so the lad is going to look for the best possible deal especially if he has family etc.

Most of us if we were in the same position and took a pay cut in the first place would do the same, okay he is dropping out of the league to achieve it but again good luck to the lad:)

Re: Darran Kempson signed for Grimsby Town

Hardly suprising news to me....a relative (incidently a Bury fan) spoke to Kempson in the steam room at the Dunkenhalgh a couple of days before the Bradford home game earlier last season.

Kempson had at one point played for Bury (under Chris Casper I think,I may be wrong!!) My relative asked Kempson why he ended up leaving the Shakers and the response........ a similiar scenario....he opted to join Shrewsbury for more lucrative terms, ala more bunce!!!

Hence why I'M not surprised by this move. Whilst, in my opinion, he was a reasonable servant to the club and made some decent performances in his time here, there isn't much room for sentiment in this game !!! He was prone to a few errors of judgement (i.e. rash challenges etc) and if he sees Grimsby as a step forward for him, then so be it !!! Fair enough, good luck to the lad, but at the end of the day he wanted something that we couldn't offer him............more money. :(

After all, he's probably got his own financial commitments and if somebody offers you more for the same job you're already doing and your current employer can't match or better the other offer, then its cest la vie!!!:(

Hopefully either Coley can sign a suitable replacement or Winnard can step up to the plate and fill the gap. My only fear at this time, is that the shennanigans at the top are influencing players decisions to sign contracts with the club.

It needs sorting fast before Coley & Bells position becomes untenable, ala Benitez at Anfield. Benitez was apparently told he had no more money to spend and was offered a large lump of money to jump ship. In Coley & Bell's case, the money won't come from our board offering them money to leave, it'll come from some other club wanting our now admired managerial duo to join them.:o

decent player, he was invaluable next to Edwards in the air.
I can understand why he left, but its only a 1 year deal.
All the best.

Strange that Coley hasn't been mentioned in the list of people to take his place -but I suppose his is from Merseyside, so that will rule him out :D :D :D

It is disappointing news and he has had some decent games for us.... but I have to agree with carpon, he has made some really bad errors Fulham, Torquay, Lincoln just being 3 of them.

Edwards and Winnard at Center Back sounds abit better to me :)

Quite agree Cashy. Good riddance! He was never better than a basic journeyman centre-half anyway.

goodbye and good riddance if that's his attitude. obviously grimsby are a huge club and he is one of the greatest one dimensional central defenders i have seen in a long while. never forget his contribution at Lincoln, Torquay and Fulham.

onwards and upwards

WE ARE STANLEY

Before he came to Shrewsbury, I know Bury offered him a good deal. He started brilliantly for us, but went downhill. Anyway, I always enjoy our trip to Accy, but is there any chance you can promise it won't rain this season?

Off topic I know, But I still watch "The Accrington Pals" by Mike Harding on utube. Respect to you all.
