Truth ?.. or merely Telegraph Hype ?.

FROM TONIGHT'S LANCASHIRE TELEGRAPH......
Accrington Stanley have been urged to apply for funding for a planned £1.2m ground redevelopment.
When the Reds first announced plans to revamp the Coppice end last year, bosses were hopeful of getting funding from the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative, known as LEGI, which supports small businesses, and had also planned to apply for back-up funding from the Football Found-ation.
Though a planning application for the scheme was expected within the next month, and ‘phase one’ building work expected to begin this summer, no funding application has been made to LEGI, which was expected to fund the majority of the £1.2million needed.
The Football Foundation also said the club had not yet applied to them for a Football Stadia Improvement Fund grant.
It is not known whether the club have made applic-ations to other funding sources, as Accrington Stanley chiefs were unavailable for comment.
Hyndburn Borough Council, which as the local authority is responsible for assessing LEGI bids, said it had not received an application.
Council leader Peter Britcliffe said: “The situation at the moment is that they simply have not put forward any bid. Though they made some initial enquiries, they have withdrawn. LEGI funding is administered by the local council and we would have expected to see an application by now, considering their plans.”
The development plans had involved putting a roof on the Coppice Terrace, and putting the entire ground under cover.
Plans were also said to involve new changing rooms, redeveloping the club car park and replacing the temporary cabin control room with a purpose built facility.
 • Seems unbelievable to me !.....BUT THEN ?.

PS....The Telegraph also report on the possibility of another Transfer Embargo !!....Is there NO good news ??????.

Ilyas has been very quiet in recent months. I for one would like to see a post from him to clarify several issues that have been raised in various threads.

I thought we all knew that the LEGI wasn't happening. That is why we WERE going for the Blackpool stand! Nothing new there.
As financial concerns go- Do you mean Jase's post on the ultras site where a player told him at the boxing that they hadn't been paid again.

The question, though, is WHY isn't it happening? Are the club looking a gift horse in the mouth?

as far as I know - using some truths and then fleshing it out.

the funding wouldn't have been 100% of the total cost - we don't have any money to add to the 90% or whatever so that's a cross in box 1

as part of the application process we would have had to undergo thorough financial investigations to ensure that we are a business worth 'investing' in. I am not for one minute saying we are crooked, but we still haven't filed last years accounts so we would be putting a cross in box 2

the club do not want to build something that is based on other public bodies perceptions of what a football club should build, ie a seated stand is no use to us, we'd much rather have a terrace. Grants are dependant on seated stadia so that's a cross in box 3

any application would have been a waste of time, effort and money so none was made.

In my honest opinion.

This post taken from Ilyas on BBC Radio lancs Thread should clear up any thing you have asked in this thread.[B]Re: Ilyas on BBC Radio Lancashire[/

Mr T, over the summer we must work as a club to meet the minimum club for FL. As i said on the radio I dont think ASFC will be moving anywhere for a while. The plans that I want to develop will take some time. And the local authority (and possibly LCC) will need to be absolutely part of the vision and partners in the roll out. So, briefly, you are right, but in the interim we must not take undue advantage of the goodwill of the FL, and we need to do a fair bit of renovation work (not least the pitch !)

cheers
Ilyas

So i would say that mr oneil has his hands tyed with what he can aply for and what the club can aford IMHO:(

It's not only this issue. It's rumours about delayed/unpaid player wages, accounts not submitted etc etc. The promised transparency has disappeared. We are left with rumours, conjecture and gossip, all of which discredit the club yet again.

This is exactly what I understood to be the case Macca. However to continue to keep on finding reports in the press which seem to outline glaring inadequacies in the administration of THE Club's development, does little to improve the ill-will which appears to be ever-more apparent in the opinions expressed by so many of it's Fans who really DO have a real concern for it's well-being.
Perhaps more accurate and comprehensive press releases (If that is what the Telegraph et al base their reports upon ?) might be what is missing !...
I continue to worry !.

Finances and things about money etc should be left to the board! Non of our business!

However as fans paying money to watch games home and away and also buying merchandise from Stanley we should be informed more about the managment and what is happening, players staying or going etc.

The thing that annoys me , is that the club are quick enough to come on here and in person to ask for suggestions to make things better etc and to help themselves but when it comes to simple tasks like updating the website with day to day news of transfers and whats happening around the club then they arnt bothered one bit!

Yeh they have Junior shirts on sale but does anyone know who we've signed? Forget about the players, we've always got shirts :).

And at this rate we will only have shirts left as we wont have no bloody players to fill them! Well decent ones at that anyway!

Disagree totally, is was everybodys business who dipped hand in pocket fer the S.O.S. and the fact if our good fairies Ilyas n Peter, hadn't arrived at court last year, Due to chronic mismangement we would not have a CLUB. its our business when the club are promoting stuff to make em money, they soon tell us that, Openess n Transparency was promised after the last debacle, Rumours etc of more mismangement are our business n need to be addressed.:(

Sorry FC but I am with Cashman on this one. A lot of supporters dipped their collective hands into pockets to buy shares in our club. OK the odd share here or there is not going to overturn the boardroom. But we are all collectively as Stanley fans entitled to know what is going on at our club.
Yes we all yearn to of news, good or other, but to say it is none of our business is way off the mark. In fact, the first two sentences are a contradiction of terms, it is either none of our business or it is our business because we are all fans of the football club. which is it to be:confused:

As far as I am aware, the L.E.G.I. thing was a none starter, once the club - inc IK/PM - looked into the finer details!! Though we have had some monies from L.E.G.I. the whole re-vamp, was, in the end a none starter!!

Did not think we were having any stand from any ground??? I thought we were making do with what we have got??!!

If this is so Joe, then it returns me to my original point which is the concern I feel about the Club allowing press statements which, accurate or not, do cause alarm and misconceptions amongst the Fans reading the Local Rags concerned,to appear without any real effort to make definative statements in return which in their transparency would keep everyone who love the Club to keep up to speed where it's on-going Management and Development is concerned...

Merely Telegraph Hype then ????

Hard to answer that one Cashy  I am not, neither are you, but I have seen it somewhere - on here or in an article L.E.T. or something - and had spoken to folk on the terraces who have heard the same!!

I maybe wrong  :o :o

But, I am in agreement that someting official would not go amiss, though at the moment, the only thing official is the pitch.... :) :)

Re: Truth ?.. or merely Telegraph Hype ?.

I was under the impression the legi fund was going ahead, or how else are we gonna get the ground improved, i was also under the impression that we were looking at 2 stands on offer. The Ilyas's interview intermated at pitch improvements - which have been in progress, and only thing that has materialised well.

But nothing on updates on fishy site on how things are doing, burnleys webby have updated their fans showing pics of work being done etc - thats the difference between ours and another clubs, simple really.

Communication has yet again been lost, something that fans wanted not only transparency - but to be updated on any progresses as they happen!! This is failing and thats what fans are getting peeved about, DON is the figurehead there he has been put in charge of the day to day running, so should be also listening to fans concerns and easing them the buck should stop with him - seems only Ilyas is interested in doing so when his busy schedule allows. Its not being unfair its DONS job or least appointing appointing someone to do so on his behalf - customer relations should be priority amongst other things, as player stuff is coleys & jimmys.
