Chairman DON

Re: Chairman DON
well not before time fans questions etc, addressed, by the man.

Re: Chairman DON
So Mr. O'Neill is now Chairman again or is that a Typo?
It still needs face to face for the fans, maybe our Press Officer could take questions from the fans via this forum and put them into a Q & A on the website? |

Re: Chairman DON
"In terms of capacity, we’ve had dispensation from the Football League for the last 12 months and they continue to be lenient with us on that."
But for how long? Another embargo, the ownership issue potentially(?) still not resolved, overdue accounts and the club isn't really making particularly positive noises about finishing the work, with O'Neill as good as admitting that the finances are far from on place. How long does he think the Football League will accept his empty promises. Down here the Ryman league and other leagues further down give new clubs a year to sort out the improvements and if they don't, they're relegated. The club must be an embarrasment to the Football League and unless our new chairman (God help us) can start being upfront with everyone, I fear their patience may start to run out. The FL doesn't need ASFC, in fact, from a financial point of view, there must be other clubs with far more to offer. Here's my challenge to the DON. "Within the next couple of weeks", be upfront with the fans and tell us all exactly how you propose getting the ground onto the state it should have been put in whilst you've been on the board and where the finance for this is coming from. Perhaps his little spokesman on here (sameoldstory) has the answers? |
Re: Chairman DON
Reasons for the pitch work actually been done is that ilyas has paid for it to be done. What is happening as far as capacity ?

Very much so. We’re looking to house a new control room. We have temporary planning permission to move it from its old position. That will go up next week; it has to be in place for the Burnley fixture anyway. In terms of capacity, we’ve had dispensation from the Football League for the last 12 months and they continue to be lenient with us on that. We’ll finish up around 4,600 to 4,700 by the start of the season, so we’re only a small amount away. Once we’ve reached that we’re looking then to develop the corner of the main stand/Coppice and possibly new changing rooms but obviously the finances will dictate how quickly that can be built. With the promise of a bright future at the club, 2010/2011 will be a big season for Accrington Stanley. :) :) :) |
Re: Chairman DON
It just gets more and more ludicrous.
Far from having the embargo "boxed off by the end of the week" (presumably this week, i.e. by today), the embargo "will certainly be lifted by the start of the season". We have a pitch that doesn't need grass. It's a pity he was not asked about all the ground sponsorship offers that we were told about - it was just a matter of choosing the best one. It's taking a long time to decide. |

Re: Chairman DON
As if it's not bad enough being constantly lied to by RH & O'Neil, they can't even lie the same lie - two members of my family who have been Stanley fans for donkeys years (since Peel Park days) & have had season tickets for a number of years & who have already bought their season tickets for this year are so sick of all this tripe coming out of the club that they have been seriously considering not using them & instead donating them to a raffle for a good cause - I really hope they change their minds but can see where they're coming from

Re: Chairman DON
There surely has to be a watershed moment for the Club soon
I don't know who they are or how how they are going to do it but if we are to move forward fears have to be dispelled too many questions are either ducked, misinterpeted, misjudged or mishandled. I think most fans just want to move on and get on with the business of what Stanley Fans do best which is "Support Their Team" with all the Pride and Passion that comes with being connected with that Magical & Mythical Name "Accrington Stanley" it also has to be inclusive of the Team behind the scenes. I know there are good things going on behind the scenes but we don't hear enough of it and it often get's lost in amongst all the other issues that seem to constantly cloud the Club. It's time for someone to stand up & be counted and look to reunite everyone connected with the Club. Stength comes from working together Together We are Accrington Stanley:) |

Re: Chairman DON
I agree too, but the simple fact is that the watershed moment is coming quite soon.
Just have a read of this: Stanley squad to take shape (From Lancashire Telegraph) We've got to have 20 players registered by the start of the season according to FL rules. We've currently got four. However we can apply for special dispensation. Considering the way the projected deadline for the submission of the accounts seems to be moving on a daily basis, who's to say we won't need that dispensation? As the Don has admitted, our ground won't meet FL rules in terms of seating capacity and we'll have to hope, yet again, they grant us dispensation on that. I realise that the FL probably bend over backwards to make allowances for us, perhaps because of our historic name, but how long can we go on testing their patience? |

Re: Chairman DON
Slight problem with that Cashy, the words 'O'Neil' & 'come clean' in the same sentence?? Can't see it happening, no matter how much we would all like it to
|
Re: Chairman DON
not sure about others, but im ready for a protest soon.
How long can we put up with his constant lies??? |
Re: Chairman DON
I have no issue in sitting down with either Supporters or the Club to help move things along even if that is just as a sounding board:)

Re: Chairman DON
The guy used more elaborate words than the labour party manifesto.
Once again he has told us nothing and avoided commiting to/confirming any dates or deadlines. A bad start by our press officer, with such limp interview questions and a failure to narrow down the subject matter to get some real answers, he has allowed Oneill to perform another one of his Google Page Ranking masterpieces. When will we get some facts and truth! |

that's unfair Davo, another thread has already shown that Martyn is only a young lad on work experience, he's hardly a worldly wise media hack ready to bring down Industry leaders! It would have been his idea to perform the interview (as with Chris Turner), and he has put more on the website in a few days than 'the club' has in three months. He can only use what he is given and O'Neil has proved time and again that he will give nothing. |
Re: Chairman DON
Disagree.
That was not an interview. It was a properganda press release from the ministry of the interior on behalf of the party chairman. We learnt nothing new, just the rehashed excuses from a man who demonstrates he does not have the best interests of ASFC, by placing himself in charge. |

Re: Chairman DON
Remember back in nov he stated he would not invest in the club - what kind of chairman doesn't invest in their club or business ?? When ilyas was chairman he invested in the club ie covered the debts and invested in our new pitch.

Re: Chairman DON
To be fair in the interview on the Website there is probably more substance to it than some of the other quotes/interviews that have appeared of late in the press.
It certainly does not answer all of the questions and some of the answers are perhaps not what we all want to hear? It is probably a "halfway house" I really would once again encourage the Club to have open dialect direct with the fans. Some of the issues might get resolved by just plodding along but others are just festering and dividing we are now less than three weeks to the start of the season, a fifth season in the Football League who would have thought that when Stanley were reformed or even ten years ago? I have just starting reading again the excellent Phil Whalley book "Accrington Stanley The Club that Wouldn't Die" and it is so touching and inspiring summing up perfectly what truly makes our Club so unique which is the pride, passion & commitment that people have always displayed to the Club along with the loyalty of everyone who has been involved in building the Club back up to where we are Today with quite literally Blood, Sweat & Tears. There is so much to be proud of and still so much to look forward to Please lets all work together for the greater good of everybody with Stanley in their blood:) |
Re: Chairman DON
Anytime he wants to conduct an interview with me for the sky sports column hes more than welcome.

Bulls News
Take a few minutes to see how Hereford's new regime is interacting with their supporters, compared with ours. "The meeting ended with a warm round of applause after 1hr 40 mins." Their place is buzzing with information. |
Re: Chairman DON
Accrington Stanley get capacity dispensation (From Lancashire Telegraph)
Just a rehash of O'Neill's fishy site "interview" really. However, it may be me misunderstanding the semantics, but "Accrington Stanley Get Capacity Dispensation" (admittedly, written by a journo) seems somewhat different from "the football league continue to be lenient with us". Is he sure they'll "continue to be lenient"?....has he actually asked them?...or is he just hoping for the best? |
