Southport
Greetings friends and welcome to your official match thread...
Stanley team: Cisak, Bateson, Edwards, Hessey, Winnard, Ryan, Procter, Putterill, Charlie Barnett (on trial, 21, ex-Tranmere), McConville, Boulding No subs on the team sheet - watch this space. A glorious sunny evening here. More to come! Dan |
Re: Southport
The Ultras are about 20 feet from the press box - it's going to be a loud evening!
|
Re: Southport
Stanley formation - 4-2-3-1
The back four is add you'd expect, with Procter and Barnett holding midfield, with Putterill, Ryan and McConville supporting Boulding. The Ultras have been silenced by a large man with "senior steward" written on his fluorescent jacket. It's a family forum, so I'll stick to the word Jobsworth... |
Re: Southport
6: Stanley lead through a hysterical own goal.
Boulding's shot is spilled by the keeper and inexplicably Earl Davis rifles the ball into the corner of his own net. I'm hoping to get a copy of the video... 0-1 Stanley |
Re: Southport
Cheer Dan, how you doing....fantastic to have you around giving us a lifeline to the match, looking forward to the new season. Can I ask; will 2br be providing any coverage for us stay-a-ways?
|
Re: Southport
12: Cisak is tested by a shot from Southport's Tony Gray

Re: Southport
14: Cisak spills a cross from the right - less than confidence inspiring...
|
Re: Southport
Doug, 2BR will not be providing commentary to FM listeners. That's not to say that with a bit of luck and a trailing wind there won't be coverage on other platforms... ;-)

Re: Southport
15: McConville shot held by Dickinson
|
Re: Southport
24: Rory Boulding chases a lost cause and appears to pull up injured...

31: Parkinson snapshot is held by the keeper
Tommy, Barnett is playing a holding midfield role alongside Procter |
Re: Southport
There are NO subs listed, but obviously we have some. As I understand it, Jukes will not be signing...
I've been wrong before though! |
Re: Southport
Thanks Dan
|
Re: Southport
37: Penalty to Stanley
McConville brought down in the box - Edwards sends the keeper the wrong way 0-2 Stanley |

It's half time and Stanley hold a comfortable 2-0 lead
|
Re: Southport
I'm loving the Q and A element to this evening...
1) Stanley are indeed in red tonight 2) I don't think Jukes was offered a contract, though I don't know that for sure. What's certain is that Coley has only mentioned Bateson, Putterill, Parkinson and Boulding as trialists who've agreed terms In terms of the game, Stanley have looked very comfortably since being gifted the lead. This 4-2-3-1 continues to look promising, with Jimmy Ryan in particular benefitting from a great deal of freedom... |
Re: Southport
cheers Dan and another q is our friend mr williams playing for scouseport?
|
Re: Southport
Sorry Dan about the Questions, But we do appreciate your on line commentary.
|
Re: Southport
We're back - Bav is on for Cisak
|
Re: Southport
Tommy - the questions are welcomed. I hate talking to myself on these things!
Nige, Mr. Williams is not in the team or on the bench. Though the Ultras gave a burst of his song at the start of the game just in case he's within earshot... |
Re: Southport
53: Triple substitution for Stanley
McConville, Barnett and Putterill off, Murphy, Turner and Joyce on |
Re: Southport
Gone very quiet Dan nothing happening?
|
Re: Southport
60: Michael Hall on for Dean Winnard
|
Re: Southport

|
Re: Southport

Re: Southport
77: Southport 1 Stanley 2
A cross in from the right is misjudged by Ian Dunbavin, and sub Chris Lever heads it in despite a good effort from Phil Edwards to clear the ball off the line |
Re: Southport
The opinion on the Southport team from those who know is that the team is decent...
|
Re: Southport
81: great play by parkinson, who skins a defender before bursting into the box and unleashing a left foot shot which is parried by the keeper...
|
Re: Southport
that's a familiar phrase "misjudged by ian dunbavin"!!!!!!!!
|
Re: Southport
keep the updates coming dan, your a credit to the club.

Re: Southport
Peter Murphy's just "been replaced" after a bit of Accy Aggro... didn't look too bad to me, but the Southport players were not happy.
Full time 1-2 Stanley |
Re: Southport
any idea on the trialists?
|
Re: Southport
Thanks Dan keep up the good work
|
Re: Southport
That's all folks - will try to update you on the outstanding issues before the night is through...
|
Re: Southport
cheers Dan much appreciated
|
Re: Southport
Thanks for the updates Dan, much appreciated
|
Re: Southport
Friends
Rory Boulding has a thigh injury - and Craig Lindfield is injured too - Coley says he'll definitely need another striker regardless. The trialists remain a little unclear - I'll listen back to Coley and let you all know the details. Short report is on the fishy Ta Dan |
Re: Southport
Cheers For your updates dan :)

Re: Southport
A tidy performance last night. Stanley played some lovely controlled passing football, Unlike Southport who are probably the most route one team i've ever seen.
The Stanley 1st goal was a real "youtube" moment, although i doubt it will ever get that opportunity. The defender who "smashed" the ball into the roof of his own net will never connect with a ball any better in the rest of his career. After the 2nd goal Stanley really looked a confident outfit and following on from Saturday at Northwich i'm optimistic for the comming season. Southport only really came into the game after Stanley had made 9 substitutions, all those that came on looked capable, it's just that so many changes upset the flow a little. Good win though. Nice tidy ground Haig Avenue as well. |
