how many players are we set to register? no one else a bit concerned we are short in numbers in a few areas? a few loan signings to make them up?

Cisak, Dunbavin, Murphy, Bateson, Edwards, Winnard, Hall, Riley, Burton, Ryan, Procter, Joyce, Putterill, Parkinson, Turner, McConville, Lindfield, Boulding = 18 players. Hessey makes it 19 but it seems to have gone a bit quiet on that front.

Think we need two more strikers and another defender (hopefully Hessey).

I haven't been too impressed with Hessey in the friendlies, think he is a bit slow.

Aye, he's on the wrong side of 30 so the legs will be starting to go, but he's an experienced head in the Football League and a natural leader. I think our defence could benefit from that greatly.

He is experienced and maybe a natural leader (I cannot comment), but he was caught out against Southport and AFC Fylde and was freed by Macclesfield, hardly a recommendation.

Southend have done a deal with HMRC to avoid administration. Part of the BBC sports report :
Manager Paul Sturrock is still hampered by a transfer embargo placed upon the club, but Martin believes that could be lifted as early as Tuesday.

"At lunchtime today I wrote to the Football League to tell them what we had achieved with HMRC," he said.

"I'm hopeful of getting a response from the Football League today or tomorrow and the embargo will be lifted."

So what's taking Stanley so long ?

They are not telling us so that we don't get withdrawal symptoms from worrying?
