3 Sign.
John Coleman has completed the signings of three new players ahead of Saturday's game with Macclesfield Town.
Defender Tom Smyth has been handed a one year contract. The-19-year-old is a former captain of Preston's youth side and was converted from a striker to a centre back whilst at Deepdale. The Southport-born youngster had been a regular in North End's reserve team but was released earlier this year. Meanwhile, Andrew Owens has agreed non-contract terms at the Crown Ground. The 20-year-old most recently played for Altrincham and Stafford Rangers in the Conference and Conference North respectively, as well as having a spell at Rhyl in the Welsh Premier League. Before that the 6 foot 3 defender trained at Glenn Hoddle's Academy in Spain after his release by Stoke City. He began his career as a youngster at Liverpool. Finally, Leam Richardson has also agreed non-contract terms. The 30-year-old first signed for the Reds in 2005 and was part of the team that won promotion to the Football League. He's since made over 100 appearances for the club, scoring one goal but was plagued by injury last season. The versatile defender or midfielder made his comeback in the last two games of last season and also featured for the reserves at Preston last night. Leam has been handed the squad number 13, with Andrew taking 22 and Tom taking number 23. All three will be available for Saturday's game here at the Crown. |

Folks
You might want to re-read the story - I missed a bit off the bottom! Nothing earth-shattering, but all present and correct now... Dan |
Re: 3 Sign.
That embargo stuff was weird....The LT never repeated it on it's website. But..having seen only one game this season (and judging on that) we definately need a big bloke up front, and quick.

Re: 3 Sign.
So glad Leam's contract is sorted & he's staying but I do question the wisdom of handing our most injury prone player the no. 13 - the lad doesn't need any more bad luck :)

Re: 3 Sign.
Good news to have some more faces.
GREAT news that Leam has agreed to stay. We actually have some quality cover now across the back. All we need is a hitman ;) |

I suggested Santa Cruz on another thread...he's doing absolutely nowt, just biding time for Man City to get rid of him.

Re: 3 Sign.
I was very impressed with Bavs vs Aldershot (think that was my home game for the season), but I wonder whether McConville might benefit from a spell on loan of we had cover. A willing tryer but getting goals somewhere would surely boost the lad's confidence. Still if Coley can make Dumbavin look decent, anything's possibe...
Oh, and welcome and good luck to the new lads by the way (and to the ever-reliable Mr Richardson). |

Re: 3 Sign.
I havent seen ANY improvement in his play, very weak and wont challenge for the ball either when its on the ground or in the air. Bavs has improved though.

Re: 3 Sign.
I agree Bav's shot stopping in particular has been superb so far this season.
Sean still has alot to do for me yet im afraid. Fingers crossed he can turn it on |
Re: 3 Sign.
Young Tom Smyth played well against PNE on wednesday night. He was playing against his former employers though and had a point to prove. But he proved it pretty well from what i saw. Good signing. I guess he'll find himself as a "back up" defender but I'm sure being on the bench for Stanley in the Football league beats playing second fiddle for Preston Reserves.
