Prediction League (Just for fun no 2)

Accrington Stanley

v

Newcastle Utd

Next Wednesday - 25th August - does anybody not know who we play? Biggest game, might I venture to suggest, since we came back into the League (no disrespect to Fulham or anybody else, but few teams carry the history or magic of Newcastle as far as the cup competitions go)

Their season has only just started - beaten fairly comprehensibly by Man U - and they might, just might, not fancy playing at Fortress Crown on a wet Wednesday, with the Clayton End matching St James's Park in all but numbers.

No prizes for the 'Just-for-Fun' League, but sharpen up your score predicting skills as you vie for the Great Prize in the main league. So - for a bit of fun, and pre-guessing what sort of team they'll bring - what will the score be at the end of the night? Thumping win? Nail-biting defeat? But who for ............and by how many?

Entries by scheduled kick-off time - 7.45pm Wednesday 25th August; enjoy!

:alright:

Sorry guys and gals, got to buck the trend, I think Newcastle will be far too strong - even with a largely reserve side, for Stanley - if we get away with a score along the lines that we got against Fulham, that will be good - but I think 4-0 to Newcastle, although obviously a sneaky Stanley win will make me eat humble pie and be ecstatic at the same time.

I think the lads will do themselves and the club proud but will eventually be beaten 2-1 by Newcastle.

If this threat doesn't stimulate The Reds to win 3-2 then nothing will !! .

Re: Prediction League (Just for fun no 2)

This a winnable game for the following reasons:

I would imagine the Magpies will look to make five or six changes to their first team which will be on show tomorrow against Villa also meaning we have an extra day to recover.

The Crown Ground should be rocking and will be virtually on top of the play

If we field our strongest side and go on the attack from the off and can take the lead, I think then if we can look to pack the mdfield and stifle their midfield we may just have the edge.

I will go for a gritty 1-0 to the Reds:)

It looks like they're playing the kids, just like last year when they lost 2-0 at Peterborough:

Re: Prediction League (Just for fun no 2)

No 5 point winners this time, but 7 people scored 4 points - predicting the defeat, but getting either our 2 goals or their 3 correctly

After 2 games, the Just for Fun League table now goes;

9pts Chimer

7pts Div3North
david1

6pts mab

5pts norwich stanley
Cashman

Chimer, of course, got the Donnie prediction spot on, and then the Macclesfield score as well, so is officially a clever clogs :theband:

Tranmere game going up shortly .................

:alright:

Re: Prediction League (Just for fun no 2)

Certainly did Val - 3 for the correct result (defeat) and 1 bonus for our 2 goals. Sadly you got the Donnie score the wrong way round (as you kindly told me after I gave you a 5-pointer!)

More accurate list;

9pts

Chimer

7 pts

Div3North
david1

6 pts

mab
sparkie

5 pts

Stanleymad
Grimps
theresonlyoneaccy
norwich stanley

4pts

Redash
Dav007
Jaysay
teach
Valarian
MikeA
Cashman

Abbreviated list last time was because I focussed by mistake on people who had scored points for both games - overlooking those who got 4 or 5 for either game; apologies - I have a full list, but have to do it by hand .............. Not being that clever that I can make a machine do it for me
