I disagree. It was the police in riot gear who made the call very vocally to 'clear the stand, just get em out'.
To witch the police totally unorganised where waving batons, swearing at fans, proding fans and turning a blind eye to a steward throw 2 punches.
As the crowd where pushed outside they had 3 horses obstructing the exit!

I was shocked at the ammount of police, did the club make any money from the game?

Sorry Rob, can't agree. It doesn't take five officers, two horses and eight blues to take down one Red who doesn't know what the chuff is going on. The behaviour of a couple of the officers and them Frankie Dettori wannabes was disgraceful.

I can't understand why police can't separate exuberance from football violence.

Nevermind. It doesn't belong here. I'm extremely proud of the job done tonight by Lew, John, Jimmy, Andy Parkinson, Ian Dunbavin and all the lads on the pitch. The Ultras were superb. Just a magnificent job.

Good craic with the toon in the Crown as well.

On Stanley On.

fair do's, I tried to observe as much as I could from where I was (somewhere near the middle ;)). Like I said, as far as I believe the police can only act on information given, and if they are asked to intervene, or if the one or two think they need to intervene, then they all pile in and "clear the stand" is probably a standard order - and they did.

Im further defence of them, I saw two coppers drag a steward (unfortunately not the one who I reported) over the wall and make him leave the area.

Having said that and defended them, there were numerous issues that could be taken. But as far as I'm concerned the blame all lies with the stewards. They panicked at nothing and waded in, at which point even fans with no banning orders or limited arrests, will react.

Re: vs Newcastle Utd.

Tonight was magic, my game at the crown ground this season as being away at sea since may, but i just loved the atmosphere the ultras make, all the flags, the red/white card on the main stand, everything, the players and the management should be very proud of what went on tonight, thought we gave a great account for ourseleves, am sure a few players will have taken the eye of a few managers, good to see bobby grant there aswell, shows he still cares about the club, what went on after the game was madness and i agree with what everything macca said, ultras/fans always stay behind, we never cause trouble home or away, too many stewards and police spoil the party.

Redraine 25-08-2010 23:31

Re: vs Newcastle Utd.

Poor old Jase was dragged away in handcuffs merely for trying to get the morons to go easy on the unfortunate fan being victimised. What a disgraceful end to a wonderful night. Appalling behaviour by stewards and police which was totally unnecessary. Arresting fans for enjoying themselves - what the hell is the world coming to? Whoever was in charge of the security operation should be sacked for allowing such sickening over-reaction.

Yeah sorry about the second photo not being of great quality, it's just a print screen of a part of the video. Just wanted a still of both the flags together.

Here's the vid. The first minute & half is skippable, except for the great introduction by Barry :D

I know nothing about football BUT, I went through to Accrington tonight and commented on the amount of Stanley fans and Newcastle fans all together talking away before the match. Everyone seemed well behaved as usual for a Stanley match. I couldn't believe it when I was coming home and the police were everywhere and an ambulance was sat outside the Crown pub. I wondered what the hell had happened. There's never any trouble at Accy Stanley. My first thought was the police were perhaps overloaded with adrenaline because Stanley were playing Newcastle. All the Newcastle fans I saw before the match were very well behaved and mixing with the Stanley supporters. I remember thinking on my way home, I must look at Accyweb to see what's gone on. I hope everyone is ok :)

You guys were a real credit to lower league football, the attitude of your manager and players was spot on and I thought you deserved abit better. We're a very lucky team this morning.

Admittedly, it wasn't our first team that played, not one of them started against Aston Villa, but you ran us very close, and should be proud of your achievements.

Do you reckon Ameobi & Ranger would be pushing for a first team place if they knew that you play football better on your feet rather than spend most of it sat on their backsides or led on their backs ? :)

At the end of the day mate, Ameobi and Ranger aren't good enough for our current first team. We have Carroll upfront, with Nolan just slotted in behind him.

Re: vs Newcastle Utd.

From The Geordies:-

"Accrington Stanley should take a bow for their approach to the game. Their play belied their lowly league status and they can be proud that they really took this one to the wire. Without the interventions of Tim Krul, the scoreline could have been a lot different.

Their supporters too, should be complimented for the constant noise throughout and for a particularly pleasant gesture in hanging a Sir Bobby Robson flag up in tribute. That kind of welcome doesn't always occur when the big boys come to town.

And so Newcastle make their way into the 3rd round draw for the Carling Cup. Most people connected to the club feel concentration on the league is paramount. But after such a long wait for silverware, the romantics amongst the supporters are surely already dreaming of a trip to Wembley?

Krul 9, R Taylor 7, Ferguson 7, Tavernier 6, Kadar 8, LuaLua 8, Donaldson 7, Vuckic 6, Ranger 8 Ameobi 6, Lovenkrands 6

Agree, Cashy, about Dunbavin. He's silenced this critic with his display last night. Thought all the team were great; periods of Stanley's play were top-draw, with quick and purposeful passing. Coleman & Bell, purveyors of football talent, have done wonders (again) in the space of a few weeks.
Biggest disappointment of the night was the strip Newcastle chose to wear; seems like you shed all traditions when you get amongst the premier product-shifters.
Roll on Oxford, another club Stanley have never played before.

Well a fantastic night all round.

Ultra's brilliant yet again. Bobby Robson flag really was 1st class.

Proud Proud night to be a stanley fan.
Brilliant to see the Geordies applauding our fans and team as they left the field.

As for the incidents that took place after I cant comment as I left after applauding the team off, but sounded like a disgrace.

Fair enough the paper rolls got abit silly in the 2nd half but no need for what happened.

the till roll throwing had nothing to do with the police and steward reaction five minutes after the game had finished.

Say what you want about the till roll throwing, but they are seperate incidents. Seperated by at least 40 minutes!

And just for the record, people where told to throw the till rolls into the goal so they would leave an effect with the roll hanging down, not 1 till roll hit Krul or Dunbavin.

The police reaction, inability and stupidity is inexcusable. Just like the Leeds bouncers/stewards will one day get a good hiding, so will those coppers and stewards. What comes around.goes around; bad things happen to bad people.

I received the following email from Terry who is a Newcastle Uniteed Season Ticket Holder:

On behalf of all genuine Newcastle United fans I would like to acknowledge the tribute that Stanley fans paid to our former manager Sir Bobby Robson. You were already regarded by us as true football fans for the way you have stayed loyal to a smaller club when you have lots of bigger ‘band wagons’ nearby which you could jump upon, and the displaying of the banners at the game yesterday reinforces that point. Stanley fans have shown a big national audience that having class is not linked to the division you play in.

We wish you all the best for the rest of the season.
