Thought they played well and were certainly not outclassed by a Newcastle side which would have cost quite a few million.

Shame something seems to have kicked off after the game, half of Lancashire Police force seemed to be legging it towards the Crown area.

Those who stayed behind signing on the clayton would have witness nothing short of police brutality, some stewards joining in, and a total security over-reaction.
They turned a very small mole hill into a full on confruntation, even pushing fans over the pitch wall then trying to arrest them for being pitch side!

OH aye - Bobby Grant was in the crowd.

Just seen Putterill's goal on granada - what a beauty.

Unfortunatley this is standard Lancashire football policing. Obviously you don't usually see it becasue police aren't present at Stanley matches in any numbers.

There's a chance the match may be first up on the League Cup show, BBC 1 at 11.45

Thanks for that.

I really should make myself known to the Accyweb lot - was it you stood outside looking disapprovingly at O'Neil before the game ?

Disgraceful action from the police, no trouble so they make their own. They had batons out on the Stanley fans for staying and singing after the game ( which is normal for the ultra's). There was one Police calling for tear gas to get the fans out of the ground.
The players were doing their warm down, watching in disbelief.
I watched this from next to the dugouts and it looked really bad from there.

I did wonder what had gone on narrowly avoiding police horses and vans in huge numbers - never at Stanley have I seen copious amounts of police wading thro livingstone rd in my life.

This will always happen when you have police and stewards on hire for 1 of games.
2 of the stewards threw punches that i seen, others said they had seen alot more than 2 punches.

The sad past is, the whole thing was avoidable.
Mick shultz should have had regular stewards in charge and briefed the police.
Throwing till tape may have annoyed him but police instigated mayhem is unexcusable.

This makes the leeds bouncers and police from last season look reasonable.

The stupid thing is that while they are all staying behind in the Clayton end it gives the police an easier to job to get away fans away from the ground. It defies logic to force them out quicker.
