I'm almost speechless, but what a great game. Gornell was just brilliant, as were Jimmy Ryan, Charlie Barnett and Proccy. Just like watching Brazil.:D

Re: Gillingham match thread

A Thrilling encounter real gung ho stuff, kamikaze defending, woeful keeeping, but some absolutely excellent possessional football entwined with great counter attacking culminating in some sublime finishes all added to a fantastic spectacle.

If that had been a Boxing Match it would have been one of the greatest fights of the decade and made it undoubtedly one of the best games I have ever been lucky enough to see.:)

Terry Gornell came of age today and with performances like that he is the "Target Man" we have been searching for...

Fair credit to the Gills for giving it a real go to score four away from home and go away with nothing must be gutting.

smudgie 02-10-2010 18:01

Re: Gillingham match thread

Agreed Gornell had his best game for us so far, great to see him scoring regularly.

MOM for me Ryan, AGAIN. Ran the show, his goal will live long in the memory :)

I think we were all caught up in the hurly burly of it, Coley and a little bit bemused by it! Never seen a game like it. Best players for me were Ryan, Proccy (rejuvenated this season), Barnett and especially Gornell who fully desrved his goal. MOM for me

What can I say that has not been said already. For me I will wear the away shirt to matches if that is the effect. Absolutely stunned, shame the ref didn't play ball. Personally I thought that Gillingham were a bunch of thugs and were lucky to finish the match with 10. Another thing if the penalty they were awarded was correct why not giveDunbavin a straight red? Oh well Gigg Lane next week 5-3 stanley win???!

ddevil2006 02-10-2010 19:40

Re: Gillingham match thread

i though about a red for Dunbavin, maybe it was because he was going away from the goal, but on saying that maybe if he caught the ball it would not of happened.

Whalley Red 02-10-2010 20:07

Re: Gillingham match thread

It couldn't have been a red card as Dunbavin wasn't the last man ... Phil was on the goal-line

I've just spotted that tiny misprint in the programme... sorry about that! The proofreader is being savagely beaten in a dimly lit room somewhere in East Lancashire as we speak!

And as for the website, it's well know that blokes can't multitask, so watching a game and writing about it is always fraught with danger - particularly with eleven goals!!! ;)

I rather think it was this incisive analysis that Lancsdave was referring to. But Crewe and Chesterfield would not help your "avg".

Completely agree. His superb centre forward display was at the heart of our victory, in my opinion.

What a truly excellent game today...a real rollercoaster ride with a happy ending...thoroughly deserved against a big strong Gillingham side...It is interesting to go to BBC SPORT -ACCRINGTON..on that site if you scroll down...606 Debate there is a guy called "barrymanulow" calling Accy Stanley ...a PUB SIDE...(CHEEKY GIT) ..other Gills fans have said ....
Barry if Accy are a pub team then rather the Gills don't play any pubs again:-)
Also there are very kind words from a Stockport fan who replies to him...
Without a doubt Accy are the BEST TEAM to come to Edgeley Park so far and that includes 4-0 beating by Shrewsbury...he says Accy are NOT a pub team but a very good young side......good on him I say and totally agree with him:-)
Check out that site worth seeing the Gills comments!!!

He ran the line so well yesterday, always difficult as a lone striker but brought players into the game with his lay offs and hold up play and crafted a couple of good chances for himself with his running and got his rewards with a well taken goal.

Super Stuff the only to downside if there is one is going from the meanest defence to conceding eight in the last three games but these things happen I am sure it is something they will look at and rectify.

It has only just dawned on me Google Page Ranking  The thing that I can remember most about Terry yesterday, was how much I saw of him with his back to goal, that is something that we have not seen too much of this season and a thing which Symes and the great man, did so well for years!!!! :)
