Thank you Accy Stanley

Just a quick to say thanks to the Community Programme Staff in particular Matt Pickford who provided Accrington Girls and Ladies FC with complimentary tickets for yesterdays game, allowed the girls to be mascots and to put on a half time display on the pitch.

The girls had a fabulous time and it was tremendous to get such a good reception from the crowd

The stewards were helpful and supportive and enhanced the enjoyment of the day.

Stanley has often scored a few own goals in the local community over the past few years however I cannot praise the club enough for Saturday.

For many of the girls this was their first visit to a league ground and although you can't guarantee 11 goals in every game I hope its wetted their appitite to pay more regular visits to the Stanley.

On other threads there has been much said about "the family that is Accy Stanley" and I would from my experience yesterday endorse those comments

Thanks again to the Stanley, their staff and supporters for making ysterday so memorable for our club and our girls

Maybe after yesterdays game - you should become permanent mascots if we are to play like that. Well done to all of you and all at the club for their assistance

The Community side of things is one thing that sometime goes under the radar, I do sense a new era on the Community side of things which bodes well now and for the future.

I am glad you all enjoyed your day and hopefully it will be the start of new interest for some of you in Stanley.:)

Football at grassroots level has a massive part to play in excercise, becoming part of a team, learning new skills and also getting kids into football it's not all just for the kids but also for parents and coaches/managers etc. who give their time for nothing but all play a part in spreading the word of the beautiful game.

Good Luck to the Girls & Ladies for the Season:)

Hedman you have my upmost respect

Thanks for your kind comments, I couldn't agree more there's lots of work that goes on behind the scenes and I think most parents realise that it's not just the hour spent at training and the time at the game on a Sunday. We are fortunate to have a very comitted band of Committee members (albeit small - new volunteers always welcome (plug plug) who give above and beyond for the benefit of the girls.

As a club we hae encouraged our under 18's to become young ambassadors for our Acorns Squad and they led the drills at the game on Saturday, the same girls have also run taster sessions in local schools and have achieved the FA Level 1 coaching award

We also try and involve parents for instance this week we are having a look at the Respect Scheme and explaining their role in the Respect Scheme

As a club we do hope that this is the beginning of a long and mutual partnership between the Stanley and AGLFC and that we can work together for the mutual benefit of both parties and in particular girls football in the local area

Thanks for your good wishes
