Matchday
Tuesday 26th Oct 2010 Bolton Wanderers v Accrington Stanley http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/g...y-JH-small.jpgStanley progressed to the quarter final stage of the LFA Senior Cup with a 3-2 victory over a youthful Bolton Wanderers. Sean McConville netted his second hat trick of the season to set up a meeting with Preston North End. Stanley took the lead with their first shot on target, Jimmy Ryan crossing in for McConville to slot home past Lainton. McConville doubled the lead moments later, curling a fantastic strike into the top corner. Tom Eaves missed a header for Wanderers but the home side had few chances before the break. Alex Cisak was replaced by Josh O'Connell in goal at the break. A flurry of three goals in ten minutes came after the hour mark. Adam Blakeman hit a free kick from the halfway line, the effort beating everyone to settle in the bottom corner. Stanley's two goal lead was restored soon after. Good pressure from Lindfield forced Lainton into a quick clearance. The keeper could only clear to McConville and the 21-year old chipped home to seal his hat trick. Blakeman scored a fine 20 yard free kick soon after but it wasn't enough to deny the Reds a well earned 3-2 victory and a quarter final trip to Preston North End. Reds line-up: Alex Cisak (Josh O'Connell), Dean Winnard , Sean Hessey, Phil Edwards, Tom Smyth, Luke Joyce, Jimmy Ryan, Charlie Barnett, Craig Lindfield, Andrew Parkinson (Jonathan Evans), Sean McConville Subs: Nick Walker, Jonathan Evans, Jamie Larner, Matthew Lawler, Josh O'Connell Bolton Line-Up: Lainton, Eckersley, Blakeman, Sheridan, Bennett, Burns, Caton, MacGregor, Wood, O'Halloran, Eaves Attendance - 100 |

Re: Bolton match thread
went to the game last night and to be honest acci were at 70% and were still too strong for a young Bolton side.
Some of the football played ( particularly in the first half) had them chasing shadows. Mc Convilles goals had quality all over them, especially curling a 25 yarder into the top corner. Positives from game; slick passing, parkinsons movement(until getting injured),jimmy, charlie and joyce making the game look easy!!! Negatives;Linfield got no change out of there young centre backs , although he worked hard,Our centre backs got a rough ride from there young centre forward( clone of kevin Davies). I liked the look of there cb Rhys Bennett? , who was a ringer for Rio Ferdinand, tall and pace to burn, Finally, thought our keeper looked commanding in first half, until being replaced and Acci could have easily scored 6 or 7 |
