Joe Jacobson signs on loan
Stanley have today completed the loan signing of Oldham defender Joe Jacobson. The 24-year-old former Welsh U21 captain will stay at the Crown Ground until January 3rd 2011. Jacobson is no stranger to Stanley fans as he spent a previous loan spell here from Cardiff City in the 06-07 campaign, when he made seven appearances and scored in a 3-3 draw away at Macclesfield Town. The defender, who can also operate in midfield, also travelled with the Oldham side that lost to the Reds in the first round of the FA Cup last month, although he was not named in the squad on the day. “Joe’s a good player who we have had before,” said manager John Coleman. “He can play in a couple of positions he’s certainly comfortable on the ball and he has a good left foot. All the fans liked him when he was here first time round so I hope he enthuses them as well.” Joe will wear the number 26 shirt at the Crown Ground and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's FA Cup tie away at Port Vale. ALSO HEARD ON THE RUMOUR MILL THAT WE HAVE ALSO SIGNED ANOTHER PLAYER ON LOAN THAT WE ARE ALL VERY FAMILIAR WITH. |
Re: Joe Jacobson
It won't be Kieran Charnock as he has gone to Morecambe on loan til 4/1/11 with view to a permanent signing, mustn't enjoy life on the south coast with Billy Kee !!:)

Re: Joe Jacobson
Tell me you're not talking about the man who takes the worst corners in the history of football.
Ever. |
Re: Joe Jacobson
Surely, there's no way back for Miles after the way he let Coley know he wouldn't be returning for pre-season training.

Re: Joe Jacobson
Are we going to play 6 midfielders? Proccy, Jimmy, Charlie, Luke, Craney and McConville (and don't try to tell me Sean is a winger!):D

Re: Joe Jacobson
So I wonder who's sniffing around Jimmy Ryan?
|
Re: Joe Jacobson
Yes, we haven't heard who will be leaving on loan ...

Re: Joe Jacobson
Think joe is an excellent addition to the squad. It is probably unrealistic to expect jimmy ryan to stay at stanley so yes craney could be a good idea (i guess the loan spell will be to see if he's still good enough - big boots to fill though). The way we played at bradford I can see craney playing well off gornell but that might mean a return to hoofball:-(

Re: Joe Jacobson
Craney mentions in his quote on the fishy site that the grass isn't always greener when a player leaves the stewardship of Coleman & Bell. Maybe that message will get across to Jimmy Ryan?! Here's hoping, eh.
Jacobson is a great loan signing for us. Would expect him to challenge Winnard for starts and get them; I don't think he'll be a benchwarmer. Though, he is a left footer... :) |
Re: Joe Jacobson
I liked Joe alot when we had him at the club originally.
Cracking left foot, and for me will go straight into the side! |

Re: Joe Jacobson
I remember the screamer Joe scored at Macclesfield 4 years ago

Re: Joe Jacobson
not seen jacobson play, but talking to friends who are oldham supporters hes well down the pecking order, saying that the team is not full of left footers so he may give the team a better balance, but if hes thrown straight in i would probably play him left side midfield as mc conville is injured

Re: Joe Jacobson
