Jason got a £200 fine 40hrs CS and a 3 year bannig order

There was no one from the club at court although Ilyas did a statement signed from the chairman of ASFC

None of us who attended court got in the court room

He will be appealling the ban........but needs the backing of the club to stand a chance of the ban be overturned

time for everyone to stand shoulder to shoulder with Jason

I think we can all agreed Jason should not be banned, the rights and wrongs of his arrest have now passed, this is about getting a key person back on the clayton end

banning orders are for thugs........Jason is far from a thug

accrington stanley is a family club........families stick together!

Regardless of any Appeal.

Jase lad; your a true Red, Stanley to your very soul. I wasn't there that night but I know that your not a thug or a criminal. Three season is harsh but not a life time; it's three seasons. I hope that the Clayton End demonstrates its disgusted for this travesty and shows support for you at every home game for all three of the seasons you will be absent. I trust that the lads on and off the pitch show the Club, Stewards and the Police that We Do Not Forget Our Own and in Spirit you will be at every game. On! Stanley On.

What really annoys me is Eric Whalley, a man who has done his best to see us go under in the last few years is allowed to strut about as if he is god on matchdays. When a real fan like Jase who cares and does more to promote the club than Whalley and O'Neill will ever do will now miss 3 years of football because the club, O'Neill, Heys and Shultz bottled it and my opinion is all three should go and take Whalley with them.

Re: good luck :)

Please hang fire calling the club.......yes they could of shown their support today they didnt for legal reason.......they cant fight the police but can back Jason with his appeal

In court they could of not of stood there and supported someone who had broke the law.....jason did plead gulity

This is now over so the club can now fully support the over turning the banning order lets just wait and see what happens with this

They can support a true fan who has done so much for the club on match days and non match days

If they choose not to support Jason with his appeal thats a different story and to say s**t ill hit the fan is an understatement!

Give the club the chance is stand side by side with Jason

Could they not have appealed for leniency? What was Ilyas' statement about?

katei77 29-11-2010 19:13

Re: good luck :)

The banning order appeal is not about the crime what happened at the newcastle game its weather jason is a thug and is not the kind of person who should be attending football games ...........now we all know jason is far from a thug and is a huge part of the club

Every club could do with a jason and the club can fully support jason proving this to the appeal judges

Ilyas did a statement but have you ever tried explaining to non stanley fan wot our football family is about ........its not something you can do easily unless they have be to a game or seen how we all came together for coxys for exmaple even then untill the stanley bug has biten no one really understands us.

At least with an appeal Jason will have chance to submit all his statements his history with the club the work he has done supporting statments from the club n other ppl,he will have a chance to show the full picture about who is.

The club have not had time to respond lets at least give them the chance to say yea or na to supportting jason

Re: good luck :)

i agree with Katei (much as I don't want to defend the club)

it sounds as though Jase wasn't even able to submit his character references today, so the date was about whether he was guilty of resisting arrest or assaulting a copper - and we all know that nobody ever gets off those charges, even with video evidence.

If the appeal is based soley against the banning order from football then the club has the opportunity now to show that it gives the slightest damn about one of its staunchest supporters. Forget what jase has done over the years for the team and the club, when the **** was hitting the fan he was one of the few who still chose to defend the hierachy when everyone else wanted to bury them.

If the club choose not to bother then I'll be voting with me feet until things change.

Its far harder to have a judgement overturned once its been made, you have to remember those hearing the appeal will probably already have an opinion on football hooliganism and may have never been to a match in their lives :(

I think we need as an internet collective to search the web for a couple of things:-
any case were a club backed a fan in order to have a banning order overturned
any other fans who have had a banning order overturned or reduced.

I think if the club could see that another club had done it before it could help them grow a pair ;-)

Re: good luck :)

Bristol Rovers a few weeks ago

doesn't seem to be a lot around on google but i'll post on a couple of forums and see what comes back.

incidentally the home office website describes banning orders as The purpose of football banning orders is to prevent known football hooligans from causing further trouble at home and abroad. Bans last between 2 and 10 years, and the precise conditions can be tailored on a case-by-case basis. which doesn't seem to tally with this case. Perhaps a good lawyer would be able to successfully argue that point alone?

Another forum mentioned something about being able to contest the final year of an FBO on the grounds of good behaviour etc etc. A couple of posters came back with it is possible and can be acheived but the costs are around £400 and there is no guarantee that the case will be heard let alone approved.

It seems to me that the point to emphasis is that Jason is neither a hooligan nor a thug and the community service and fine is more than sufficient for the crime to which he pleaded (pled?) guilty. A trawl through umpteen websites over the last couple of seasons should provide more than enough ammo as to his real character

Redraine 30-11-2010 11:09

IMHO Jase has already served a long enough sentence by observing the voluntary(?) ban which has had such a detrimental effect on the Clayton end and, to a lesser extent, our away support. His 3 year ban is a real miscarriage of justice.

Myself and linda contacted the FSF within a few days of the NUFC game they offered support with complaints etc......sadly no formal complaints were passed to myself or linda so we were unable to move forward with the FSF and ASFC.

The FSF work with fans who are unfairly treated by stewards/police/courts they have helped fans have banning orders over turned.

I am now back in touch with FSF and will update as information comes through.

We have hope :)

Hi Mark.

My case involved being arrested after allegedly going onto the pitch at Crewe away last season. It's slightly different as I defended myself in magistrates court against the bogus claims of the copper, and was found not guilty after presenting video evidence supplied by Crewe Alex. As for physically appealing against a ban, I wouldn't know where to start. I know that you can appeal to the court that you were banned at to have it lifted once 2/3rds has been spent. This almost always gets granted to my knowledge, but naturally this is no consolation to the bloke involved. I personally think it would be a very long and arduous task to appeal against the ban, particularly considering that he pleaded guilty to the offense, and was no doubt aware that the CPS had made an application to the court to seek a ban.

Sorry that I can't be any more assistance, but feel free to keep me informed of any progress made in the case.

Some useful information on footballbanningorders.net Home. It confirms that there is a right of appeal to the Crown Court against the making of a football banning order by magistrates in both criminal and civil cases. Also recommends a firm of solicitors (CJH Solicitors incorporating Greenhill Cooper of Derby) as nationally recognised experts in relation to defending football banning orders.

I think the ban is an absolute travesty. I've never spoken to Jason but I've certainly seen him around at both home and away games and know that he's no thug. Police tactics were certaily disproportionate that night, to say the least. As we came out the Main Stand we were nearly mown down by the cavalry charge of police horses racing through the carpark to clear the Clayton End.

Should the Ultras consider swallowing their pride re the flags ban so some massive banners in Jason's support could be displayed?

cashman 01-12-2010 11:35

A great match - and probation won

A great match - and probation won

http://www.westyorksprobation.org.uk...Id=244&max=305

Although Accrington Stanley lost 3-2 to Premier League opposition Newcastle United, it was a great evening and testament to West Yorkshire Probation Trust and its partners' commitment to protecting the public, reducing reoffending and supporting offenders to gain additional skills to help them into employment.
In partnership with Acorn Centre Todmorden, West Yorkshire Probation (WYP) enlisted Cliff Edens of RPL Safety Consultancy to run certificated Stewarding and Events Management training for 10 offenders through an LSC Skills for Jobs funded course run by the Acorn Centre. The training was put into practice on 25 August at Accrington Stanley’s home Carling Cup clash with Newcastle. Current and former stewarding trainees who are, or have been, under WYP supervision joined other stewards to ensure the 5,000 fans enjoyed the match in safety.
The stewarding course has been very successful. Former graduate, Gino, now works regularly for RPL Safety Consultancy at a variety of sporting and leisure events – and Gary was encouraged to stick with this line of work, a real positive as he has a young son to help provide for.

http://www.westyorksprobation.org.uk...Id=245&max=150

Mike Schultz Safety Officer for Accrington Stanley Football Club said they are: "very pleased to help these offenders gain experiences and skills to get back into work. We believe in people having a second chance and this scheme helps to give offenders a fresh start."
Cliff Edens, RPL Safety Consultancy, added: “I am impressed with the offenders’ commitment to the work and I have now employed a number of them at outdoor events throughout the summer. There are a number of jobs in the security industry and I really hope that the students will be successful in their applications. Today, they all worked really hard in difficult situations. One of the students helped the Police take a struggling prisoner to the van. He liked that feeling, being on the right side of the law!”
Richard Milczanowski, WYPT Skills for Work Officer is delighted with the project and partnership: “Without doubt we have established good working practice between our respective organisations as we have now completed the third cohort of learners, who have achieved a national level 1 qualification in stewarding.”
The offenders who have finished their probation supervision are undertaking a National Vocational Qualification Level 2 in Matchday Stewarding through Accrington Stanley FC.

As Jason is appealling his banning order any atricles statements etc what could be used in his appeal should not be posted on a public forum.

This is a legal matter and should be treated as such please

Jason will only get one chance at his appeal lets make sure he gets the best chance :)

anyone who comes across anything what they think may help Jasons appeal please pmed myself lowiey or Jason thanks :)

OMG What has become of our wonderful little club when someone like Jase gets a 3 year ban. Times have certainly changed, and if this is moving forward, give me the good old days anytime.

I had to plead guilty in the end, a complicated story & a bit of a bungled defence....

The plod had "never felt so threatened on duty" & "thought about drawing his baton"..... Jeez, as somebody said on the day , where have they been policing , MOTHERCARE....

1) If he felt so threatened he WOULD have used his baton
2) If thats the most terrified he's been in the 20 years in the force, and he only "thought" about drawing his baton, does that mean he's never used it? can't see that myself, can you?

we are entitield under the freedom of information act to see a copy of the police bill.

when I get a chance at the weekend, I will send a request over.

they normally take a few months, but they have to give me a response.

Will post it on here.

Would it be of any use to Jase's case?
