The Way Forward?!?

Is this the scenario for the next nine months?

1) No money for wages and cost of increasing ground capacity.

2) Take out PFA loan.

3) Sell a player in January.

4) Repay PFA loan.

5) Season ticket sales in April fund wages till June.

6) Money runs out.

7) Take out another PFA loan - embargo in place.

8) Repay PFA loan in August with sponsorship income.

9) Struggle starts again with no cohesive or strategic plan to take the club forward.

Well done for getting to number 8 ;)

Yup, that's about it.

What a pity we don't have a wealthy, astute businessman who genuinely loves the club, waiting in the wings with the resources and the ideas to take us forward and even build a new stadium for us.

But, of course, we don't have anyone like that because if we had, the club would have welcomed him with open arms, wouldn't they?

Its certainly the probable scenario, wi clowns ya always get a circus.:(

The really frustrating thing is, it doesn't have to be this way.

Did we not have an unexepted windfall from the Newcastle Cup game that was not in the budgets at the start of the season?

Wynonie Harris 07-12-2010 07:33

Re: The Way Forward?!?

Let's be honest about this - a lot of Windmill's forecasts may be speculative, but he's got the general gist of things right - making do and mend, lurching from crisis to crisis, living hand to mouth. And yet there is an alternative staring us right in the face.

Until that alternative becomes a reality, this club has a very bleak future indeed and all the "thinking positive" attitudes in the world aren't going to change that.

Yes Google Page Ranking we did, and if my memory serves me right wasn't that reported as going to JC in the transfer window? Somehow I don't think it will, afterall we have been told to. Incrrasr ground capacity, something the club were obviously unaware of, untill very recently :-(

We really should learn not to believe everything the club says lol.

Scenario update for Stanley.

1) No money

2) HMRC not paid since October

3) Extra 500 spectator capacity will not happen this year.

4) Knight on white horse comes to the rescue in January in the form of the FL with a generous "parachute payment."

5) February - money has run out - again!

In which case nobody should be concerned as long as they remain in the football league and the said league keep bending the rules

Re: The Way Forward?!?

I knew the spectator capacity wasn't happening this year - due to hold ups- thank you Football League once again, but the getting behind with HMRC payments again was a bit of a blow.
I expect an embargo soon. Sooner if the Burton and/or Crewe matches are cancelled.
Let's hope the PFA are as patient. Their loans do come in handy!

mab 15-12-2010 21:23

Re: The Way Forward?!?

Why do some people like/try to stir s--t up and put the club down, its hard enough as it running a football league club on low gates and low income coming in IMHO!!Shrews game if it hadnt have been postponed would have seen a big away following which meens ££££ in the coffers, sats game is in the hands of the weather GODS as well as are all our home games this time of year.so lets have a bit of positive posting,Afte all it is good will to all time of year.......

cashman 15-12-2010 21:29

everyone understands the finances are not the greatest mab, n i agree its hard enough running a football club, thats the problem, the club IS NOT run as it should be, most are also aware of that, no transparency even with things that can be disclosed, ******* are ******* all the year round, christmas or not.;) no excuses fer em regarding matches being off etc, wheres the revenue from sky gone?

Sorry, mate, have to disagree with you there...no goodwill whatsoever to O'Neill and Whalley. The best Christmas present for me would be to see them disappear forever from our football club and Ilyas to put his plans into action.

Fair enough, Mab, but there's precious little to be positive about. If there were no other options, then perhaps we'd just have to make the best of a bad job, but there is another option, as we all know!
