Team v. Bury

Lets have 11 proper players on from the start. If Putterill had come on with half an hour to go I'm sure we would have finished Chesterfield off. How come he can't get a start after galvanising our play when he came on at Morecambe to secure the win? To bring him on today with only 5 minutes to go was ludicrous. Coley's subbing, or lack of it, drives me crazy:(

i would start with 4 4 2. i think 4 5 1 at home is too negative and with their big centre backs it wont work.

Cisak
winnard long edwards jacobsen
mcconville proctor ryan putterill
craney gornell

Exactly what was negative about our playing philosophy yesterday?

I could answer that but will refrain, for fear of being accused of pursuing a vendetta.:D

He did not rest anybody after a gap of one day, what makes you think he will change it after four????

To be honest, even if he does, it is too late!! Monday was the time to change it, but he did not!! 60mins was the time to change it/freshen it up, but he did not!!

We all know the score, it is his weak point, but I just wish that he would learn...

Would not change it too much, but Ray Putterill, from the start, I feel is a must!!

Re: Team v. Bury

Winnard has not played well for a while now and if Jacobson was staying on loan then i would say drop him and play bateson at right back. That would be only change as the rest of team were alright apart from 5 minutes saturday. Altough i would of considered taking mcconville, who apart from the goal and one good corner did nothin, and craney who ran out of steam off for putterill and turner for something different.

But now craney, long and jacobson's loans have ran out changes will have to be made anyway

Re: Team v. Bury

agree about winnard decent defender but distribution leaves alot to be desired. assuming loans are extended i would go
bavvo
richardson long sunbed jacobson
proctor barnett
ryan craney sean mc
terry

agree sean doesnt do alot but has a knack for sniffing out a goal so i would leave him in. putteril to come on late with all his energy

I was talking to Chris at the Morecambe game at half time and he mentioned the scan after i'd asked if he had recovered from his injury:)which he got on the training ground:(

In order to get something out of this one.....

Two players of theirs need stopping I feel. Mozika in Midfield and Lowe up front. I'd advocate somebody man for man on Mozika who'll go in hard and fair on him (to me Joyce fits that mould) and I think we've got to put the best man in defence man for man on Lowe......that to me means Big Phil Edwards.

Take them two out of the equation and I think we're halfway to getting a result.:)

Also, forget the 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 or whatever.....We're home..If we're too cautious and bearing in mind Bury are better away than at Gigg and they'll be roared on by a large following, we might end up chasing a result rather than bossing one.:o

If it was me.... I'd go 3-4-1-2.......Gornell and Craney up top, Ryan behind,Proccy and Joyce in centre Midfield, wide-men /wingbacks up for debate !!!Edwards, Hessey & Long at the back. Bavs as keeper as we don't have much scope in that department.....

I still stand by what I've said at start of season.....the lack of a keeper who commands his area and marshalls his defence is holding this side back.:(

Re: Team v. Bury

Bateson def should be in ...WHAT HAS HAPPENED BETWEEN COLEY and HIM? SINCE HE GOT SENT OFF HE HASN'T FEATURED IN THE TEAM???
Up to then he played superbly as an attacking defender ...and his throw ins are worth a free kick!!!!
Obviously the best team would be 10 Jimmy Ryan's and a good goalkeeper:-)

I think some people let the fact that we only play with one recognised striker fool them into thinking that our formation is negative. It's not, in any way. It promotes short passing and high movement. We play with three attacking midfielders for God's sake. It's not a traditional 4-5-1 in that it is much less static; rarely do we see Gornell isolated as we did in the 'punt it up to Mullers' days.

Regarding Mozika, I hope he doesn't show up, the cheat. For that matter Futcher and Sodje can stay at home, too.

Well there will be at least one change for Saturday - according to Coley!!

ASFC News Story > 3775

It says that they haven't yet sorted a deal for Craney, so he will not be playing - enter Razor!!

Also strange to read in that story, that was the last time Jonny played!!!

Edit:- He played at Chesterfield.. :o :o
