evening Martyn - look forward to 'watching' the game thru' your eyes - is it dry up yon ?

MartynBiddulph 15-02-2011 18:23

It's dry just very cold! The pitch doesn't look fantastic, very muddy with some damp patches in the middle of the park.

Re: Rotherham Thread

6: Barnett sprints down the left, beats a defender before cutting back to Gornell. Gornell's close range effort well saved by Warrington.

MartynBiddulph 15-02-2011 18:57

Re: Rotherham Thread

Pretty quiet opening. Just the one chance apiece. The Gornell chance for Stanley and Liam Henderson headed over for Rotherham.
The press area here is a long, long way from the pitch!

MartynBiddulph 15-02-2011 19:01

Re: Rotherham Thread

16: A yard of space opens up for Gornell 25 yards out, he shoots just wide of the goal.

Relatively quiet game so far, Rotherham looking to utilise Omar Daley out on the right whenever they can.

Back online! The internet went down for a few minutes should be back on fine now!
Terry Gornell has had two good chances for Stanley, both from outside of the area.
Joe Jacobson was booked just after the half hour mark for an unfair challenge on Marshall.
On the occasions Rotherham do go forward Liam Henderson is looking a real handful for them, the half time break not too far away now, Stanley are looking more than good value for at least a point.

2mins added time.

Fantastic save from Warrington. Good attacking play from Ryan and Joyce sets up Gornell just inside the area, his powerful effort well saved by Warrington to the keepers' right.

MartynBiddulph 15-02-2011 20:14

Re: Rotherham Thread

Just a minute later and he pulled off another fantastic save. Luke Joyce hit a powerful shot from 25 yards out, Warrington managing to tip over for a corner. Gornell headed over from the resulting corner.
Stanley continuing to threaten the Rotherham goal. 25 to go.

I don't know about Back the boys" play off push, the bottom of the table is looming up a bit too close for comfort for me.

I wish Coley would mix things up a bit. He's got a 24 man squad but persists in only using about 14 of them. There must be some pretty fed up squad members at the moment.

I know any criticism of Coleman is seen as blasphemy but hang on a minute. For a start it's a 2-0 defeat. It might be the 1st defeat this year but how many have we played? It's also just 7 wins out of 27 played.

Stanley must have one of the biggest squads in the League, one that they can ill afford to keep yet almost a full team of 1st team Pro's never get a look in. Too many players know they will start every match regardless of their performances.

I'd like to see a few fringe players given a chance, but i won't happen. It will be same again come Saturday.

We are powder puff in front of goal and never seem to be able to convert the half chances. My heart sank when Coley brought on McConville for Charlie, leaving Putterill still on the bench, for God's sake. Sure enough, his only contribution was a terrible miss, weakly shooting straight at the keeper's midriff from a great position in the box with an open goal beckoning. God, what an awful place to watch football, the home crowd silent until the last 10 minutes. Should have taken my binoculars.

Yeah in hindsight it looks like a bit of a rollicking larry....wasn't meant to - just genuinely wondered how you would change things. We do have the squad players and I don't automatically defend coley - but I don't get to many games (certainly not reserve games) so don't really know how the others are performing.

I agree entirely about Jonny Bateson. What on earth has happened? He doesn't even make it to the list of subs now.

Not sure I agree about some players being in the comfort zone, though. I think we have a solid "first" squad of about 13 or 14, and those not in that group are really not up to it. That first squad generally plays well - the problem is the lack of a stiking partnership. In the absence of a Le Fondre or Bishop type player, surely it is time to let Terry Gornell and Craig Lindfield try to establish a partnership.

Re: Rotherham Thread

Its a funny one with Jon Bateson ( whos a very good player),the only reason I can think of is that in his last two starts the team conceeded 8 goals and got himself sent off when the game was lost against Bury.
I dont know if he responded with mom displays in the resis or not as I only saw the preston match and he was subbed.
The manager and coaches see all the players train daily,so to me ,its upto the player to catch there eye.
Same with Micheal Hall, who is a good player ,but couldnt force his way into the first team,
