Re: Lincoln Thread
A little tip for keeping up with the action this aft - there's a text commentary on ASFC's Twitter page - Twitter no need to sign up or anything, just watch.
It updates a bit quicker than I can type (thanks to Jake who has made the trip today) but I'll stay with you on here as best I can! |
Re: Lincoln Thread
Bearing in mind that we haven't won here since returning to the League, what predictions have you all gone for?
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
It's a drizzly, overcast afternoon at Sincil Bank.
Seems odd to be here during the day - the cathedral isn't lit up and it's not the same! Warm ups all round on the pitch. 18 minutes or so until we get started. |
Re: Lincoln Thread
ive gone fer 3-0 to the reds dan.
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
The bloke on the PA system is doing some kind of stand up patter on the pitch...
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
afternoon Dan - on the basis that I'm very rarely correct, I've tipped a Lincoln win (1-0). But were I should be DIYing this fine Selsey Bill day, I've opted to glue myself on here hoping to cheer a forth Stanley win on the bounce.
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
It's a pretty vast ground here and already all I can here are the Ultras. WITH headphones on!

Not like you Val...
Are a lot of you opting for reverse psychology? |
Re: Lincoln Thread
I'm no expert in pre-match entertainment, but I reckon Fatboy Slim's "Right Here, Right Now" is a bit premature at 2:53...
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
Classy kit combo - black tops, red shorts, red socks.
Lovely! Only cos Lincoln have black shorts and socks in fairness. |
Re: Lincoln Thread
On the subject of kit, Lincoln's black numbers on red and white striped shirts is REALLY clear...
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
We're off
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
are we winning yet?
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
Winning on midfield headers Macca...
In fact Proc could be in the lead on his own! |
Re: Lincoln Thread
But no REAL chances!!!
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
thatll do then. End of the season we get promoted on headers won!
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
10: Gornell shot deflected just over
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
Slow-ish start
Couple of routine saves for Cisak, couple of half chances for Stanley |
Re: Lincoln Thread
Hi Dan, Keil & myself going to right the history books with a 2-1 win for the Stanley.
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
25 gone. Not blistering stuff!
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
Referee has just given two foul throws and a contested drop ball.
It's like being at school! |
Re: Lincoln Thread
30: A good parry from Cisak denies Carayol
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
35: another good stop from Cisak to deny McCallum
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
43: Barnett put in down the left, keeper comes but Barnett fires wide
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
Half time 0-0
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
so far so good, lets hope fer a stanley improvement wi a goal or 2 second half.
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
Slow & steady, or are they a bit iffy ? Hopefully 2nd Half with bags of goals for the boys. :D
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
Not vintage stuff here folks.
Two good saves from Cisak to deny the home team who look dangerous down the flanks, but though Trevor Carson hasn't made a save Stanley have crafted one or two chances but have not found the finish. Parity is fair for me. A little round up from Jake on the fishy now I think |
Re: Lincoln Thread
Half time change for Stanley.
McConville coming on for Barnett who got a knock early in first half |
Re: Lincoln Thread
Good afternoon Stanley family.
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
hi kiwi. hope yeh brought some luck wi yeh.:)
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
When did the BBC change Charlie Bennett's name to Barnett?
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
51: good chance for McConville - Ryan plays him in down the right, but from a tight angle he beats the keeper and the right post. still 0-0
|

I tell you what, if the Arse and Rotherham can both pinch a goal, I'll be well on my way for my airfare to Accrington.

according to bbc stats we've only 2 shots on target out of 10 attempts - are they using five a side nets Dan ?
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
Do you ever get the feeling it's not your day?
Stanley have had a few good chances, but can't get one on target. |

Well, at least we didn't concede anything so that's something to take away from today. :)
Sitting at 14th (Still) & John it looks like you'll have to save a little longer mate. |
Re: Lincoln Thread
A point will do fer me, 3 on Tuesday against Stockport and another 3 next game after that - hopefully. So it is a ground we have not won on, at least we have not lost there today either.

But Joe, had you been sharing my excellent day out with the Ultras in the historic City of Lincoln, you too would have realised during the match that the point you mention was the result of a 'Home' Team so obviously setting up, and playing for a draw !....something seldom seen and a sad indictment of the Management at Lincoln City !. p.s More interesting was my meeting and chat with that well-informed and esteemed contributor to our Forum, Tealeaf !!. |
Re: Lincoln Thread
A bit of a non-event of a match, that was, though a gritty performance from the red's defenders and midfielders. The less said about our forward play the better. I thought Charlie should have been subbed earlier, as he took a heavy knock and barely featured after that, although he did miss a good chance on his left foot just before half time. I think he might have turned it onto his better right foot if he had been 100%. Coley needs to get hold of Terry Gornell and impart some of his scoring expertise, as his shooting leaves a lot to be desired for a centre forward. Highlight of the day was Choirboy and myself being dropped off the coach in Lincoln for a quick tour of the magnificent cathedral, a grand pint in a quaint pub nearby, and a quick look at some of the guitars in the music shop on High Street.

Re: Lincoln Thread
Well a game of missed chances, we should have won 3-1 at least.
Very disappointing, though always gotta be happy with an away point. Thought Hessey was MOM, solid as a rock, also Cisak looked commanding and had a good game. Roll on Tuesday. |
Re: Lincoln Thread
A game of So many missed chances from Gornell,Sean, even Jimmy missed a great chance . Joyce had a good game and battled hard. Need to get our shooting boots on if we want to make the playoffs. Although maybe before the game we would have taken a point we really should have had 3. Cisak made some decent saves and the Ultras as always sang loud.
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
A fairly poor game yesterday.:( However, I was disappointed with a draw even away from home. The refereeing at times was "mystifying" :confused:and contributed to the relatively poor entertainment. Lincoln looked like a really poor outfit to me. They lacked any ambition and seemed happy to take the draw from the start.:( They only had a couple of long range shots(on target!) that Alex Cisak dealt with very easily. We made several chances but did not get any on target. We do still have a problem up front and my view is that we need a "predator" type of goal scorer. We have done well recently by scoring "spectacular" goals from Ian Craney but we are not scoring the "scrappy" goals in and around the six yard box that often win games and gain points. Still, one point is better than none and we kept a clean sheet. The defence looked pretty solid. Ultras were great again.:alright: Lincoln's best player was their own group of Ultras who looked like they had borrowed some of our flags! On Stanley On.:hothothot

Re: Lincoln Thread
To be honest i thought Lincoln on paper set up a attacking formation,2 forwards and 2 out and out wingers, therefore Acci out-numbered them in the middle.
Agree that Charlie should have gone off as he was just a passenger once he got injured. Jimmy seemed a bit off today, maybe missing that sitter was on his mind, but i would have left him on and took Craney off as him and Gornell dont seem to be on the same wave length, and a lot of good positions were wasted. Best players for me were Edwards and Joycy although the Keeper is looking very commanding at the moment. |
Re: Lincoln Thread
I was listening to Radio Lincs via PC ( until it was cut off at 2.50 ) the manager of Lincs was saying that Accrington Stanley are prob financially worse off than Lincs. He also said on their visit to Stanley our facilities were very basic indeed BUT he also said that what we lack in materials the team show spirit and its that spirit he wants to rub off onto Lincoln, he praised our lads no end and said what a good season we are having. All this coming from an away manager, made me feel extra proud of our lads.

Re: Lincoln Thread
Don't get to see too many games but saw this one and it was a pretty dull game to be honest though if any of our players could shoot straight we'd have won. Lincoln had a lot of joy down our left and had their right winger been able to cross the ball we could have been in trouble. Still, a point here is better than we usually do. Good to meet Yon Mon and Redraine.
|
Re: Lincoln Thread
Good point teach,I thought that during the match,Jacobson was done for pace on at least six occasions only for the winger not to deliver a telling cross.
Would imagine it was noted by the manager and would be addressed ( midfielders helping to double up). Going forward he was ok,but on another day it would have cost Acci as we never converted our chances. |

Re: Lincoln Thread
Redraine,I wasnt critising Jacobson as there 2 wide men were rapid, but he was done for pure pace ( 3 in the first half and 3 in the second),The question you have to ask is who was helping him !!!.
Thats why i thought Edwards had a good game( and Hessey) and there positional sense gave the winger nothing to aim at,and when he went to the far post,Deano headed it away, good defending all round really. Yes it was me talking to Deano at the end, just giving him his usually bollocking lol |
Re: Lincoln Thread
Sorry Redraine, you should introduce yourself next time, its nice to put faces to web names

I think part of the problem with our full backs is that they don't get much practice in training against young, lightning fast black guys? |
Re: Lincoln Thread
Dont know about chasing young black lads, you must not have watched a lot of academy football !!!,Deano spent 9 years chasing them,Wellbeck,Brandy,Adjose at utd and Sturridge at City to name a few.
May start wearing my wigan scarf from our northern prem league days, when we had 1500 watching. Springfield park had a load of characters and our own mud slide for the away spectators. These modern day supporters have never roughed it !!!!. If you get time go on you tube and type in sunderland-wigan mud slide !,those were the days. Thats why me and my mates love Acci, its like wigan was years ago, some famous outings, just like you lads have now |
