let the giddyness begin ..
for a start off, all those who don't wanna jinx things feel free to not post. My opinion is that supporters like us don;t often get chance to dream so let's do it while we can ....
to put things in perspective. We need to win the one game in hand to be on pretty much equal points with everyone in the play offs. Shrewsbury are third with six points more and a game played more. Second might be a step too far but with the game in hand (for all those on less games than Shrews) we can be within a win of them. 3rd is still there for all those in with a sniff. Of all the teams below us I think only Oxford are in with a chance. So. 1 maybe two automatic spots still going. Four play off spots still going. 9 (or 10 if 2nd place has gone) places available for where we want to be. 5 spots/9 teams, can we equal or better the form of 5 teams over the next 8 games? 3 games away, 5 at home. 2 more clean sheets to equal the all time Stanley clean sheets record in a season (in the Football League). 2 more home wins to equal the all time Stanley consecutive home wins in a season record (in the Football League). This team is on the cusp of greatness, BACK THEM! |

Re: let the giddyness begin ..
on reflection, agree wi football 19, i'm a realist, but its a big ask, if stanley can maintain last nights form, fer the last 8 games, then forget the play-offs, they will go up automatic, simple as.:eek:

Re: let the giddyness begin ..
Agreed Cashy, last night was a brilliant performance from ALL team members , shame there had to be a MOM they were all worthy of it.Just hope their batteries are not flat for week-end.

Re: let the giddyness begin ..
Woweee still can't get over last nites shock of miracle goals at home lately im really scared of jinxing it so I'm taking every match as it comes and enjoy it while its fandabiedosie, tho I so prefer to be shocked with a game like last nite I'm not even anticipating play offs of finals, just more of the footy Stanley have been playing with passion and goals. Tha'll do me :)

Re: let the giddyness begin ..
Also remember;
Only Chesterfield have won more games at home than us (13 to our 11) - five of our last eight are at home, and we travel to teams lying 3rd, 16th and 23rd in the Division Only Chesterfield have scored more goals at home than us (50 to our 41 - next best is "freefall" Rotherham on 38) Bury's manager Alan Knill has just "jumped ship" - seemingly going to the Iron; they're only 5 points ahead of us Our remaining games are against Shrews (3rd) Oxford (11th and in the mix) Southend (14) Macclesfield (16) Bradford (18) Northampton (21) Burton (22) and Barnet (23) You have to believe it's possible ..............:D:D:D |
