Real cider

Four of us driving up on Friday are devout members of the 'Oxford Cider Drinkers, OCD). Please, can you tell me whether any pub in Accrington sells real cider?

Not Strongbow, Magners, Bulmers or Woodpecker, not chilled or poured over ice, just real English(or Welsh) cider.

Many thanks for that, we may well give them a try, unless we get a cab into Accrington.

Basically, we prefer farmhouse cider, made from freshly squeezed apples rather than mass produced stuff made from concentrates, or even worse, concentrates & corn syrup (Strongbow, Woodpecker, white lightning etc)

There are some decent bottled ciders, Westons Organic, Westons 1880, Thatchers Katy are very popular.
Westons also do a 3 litre box of organic.

if you come to Oxford next season, go to the Priory pub next to the ground & try a pint of Black Dragon, in my opinion, (although it is welsh:D), it is simply the best cider around, but at 7.2% be careful:)

I'll second you on that one, OV! Supped four pints of this excellent brew at the Microbar in Manchester Arndale last Saturday afternoon. Absolutely cracking stuff. Unfortunately no chance of it in Accy. :(

If you do don't give it to the locals they're daft enough already:D

Cab is probably an easy tenner and likely to be near £15 each way. The Bridge is a very nice pub and in the town centre where it's easier to go for a walk round the various hostelries

Sounds a good idea, although if I supped 4 pints of the stuff pre-match, I reckon I wouldn't even get to the game! ;)

Would just like to say thank you to Accrington Stanley F.C. & the people of Accrington for making us so welcome yesterday.
Enjoyed Friday evening in Dingle country, but found a pub with good cider, which we drank until unfortunately they ran out.
Enjoyed a pint in the Crown before enjoying the hospitality of ASFC. Thank you.
