Prediction League Game 43; Bradford (home)
Accrington Stanley V Bradford City Prediction League – Game 43; v Bradford (home) Few changes in personnel (if you don’t count a change in the dugout – Peter Jackson replacing Peter Taylor as “interim manager”); Kevin Ellison (ex Altrincham, Hull, Tranmere, Chester and Stockport – amongst others) joining on loan from Rotherham; “senior” (as in “Senior Citizen”) striker Scott Dobie – who made his debut at Carlisle in 1996, then played for Notts Forest and the Baggies, before signing for St Johnstone, where he played 5 games before being released – signed on loan; and midfielder Jonathan Worthington, who’s moved around since ending his 7 year tenure at Huddersfield; went to Oldham, signed for Fleetwood on loan (3 games, no goals, one yellow), and joined Bradford in the transfer window. Back from loan at the Millers came Omar Daley, Bradford’s 29 year old Jamaican International (56 caps) striker, to carry on his (so far) four year Bradford career. Strikers they certainly need :(; 44 goals in their 45 games so far – 6 in the Cups, 38 in their 41 League games – explains, probably – why they’re currently lying 19th on 47 points (below Hereford and Macclesfield on goal difference). Their away form is poor; P21 W5 D3 L13 F15 A34; overall, it’s P41 W14 D5 L22 F38 A57. They didn’t break any pots in the Cup competitions either; they departed the Carling in Round 2, 2-1 at home to Preston (aet) having put out Notts Forest, also at Valley parade, by 2-1 (aet); that was as good as it got, because they bombed in the JPT (1-0 at Hartlepool) and in the FA Cup (4-3) at Colchester, both at the first hurdle :o. Their last six games have resulted in just one win, one draw and four defeats :p; away, they did Macclesfield 1-0, and lost 2-1 at Stevenage and 4-0 at Southend; at home, they scraped a draw against the Cobblers (1-1), but succumbed to Shrewsbury 3-1 and Torquay 3-0; actually, their last two have been consecutive defeats (3-0 and 4-0) which doesn’t bode too well for them ………… Since we last played them they’ve won 8, drawn 2 and lost 13. Our head to head is level pegging; W2 D3 L2; we actually haven’t lost in the last 4 (three 1-1 draws, including a November Tuesday in 2010 when a penalty by Sunbeds :D gave us a lead, and eventually a point, and a 2-0 win in February 10, courtesy of a brace by John Who? Miles). They’ve managed 5 goals in just one game – at home to Oxford; to prove that was a fluke, they’ve got 3 goals in a game just 3 times (Colchester in the cup, Stockport 3-2 at home, and Cheltenham 3-1, also at home), 2 goals five times, a single goal 20 times, and no goals 16 times; put another way, they’ve only scored more than once in 9 games all season ………. Leading scorers are 6’ 4” striker James Hanson, signed from Unibond Premier side Guiseley in 2009, with 9 (6 in the League); midfielder David Syers – ex Ossett Albion, Farsley Celtic and Harrogate Town – also with 9; and 19 year old midfielder Tom Ademeyi, on loan from Norwich (for whom he’s only made 4 starts so far despite being at Carrow Road since he was 8), and Omar Daley (see above), both with 5. Eleven others have scored between one and four each (including Lee Handrie, no longer part of their squad) The deadline for entries is, as ever, scheduled kick-off time, which is 3.00 pm this coming Saturday, 23rd April. Back to our winning ways? Blockbuster victory? 7 goal blitz? Dodgy point again in another 0-0? Cry God for Harry, England and St George ……………… Come on The Stanley! :D:D Good luck to everyone ………… and thanks for playing! :alright: |
