still no 'flesh on the bones' so to speak. I'm looking forward to whether this ever happens but the big day will be the unveiling of plans. That is the day that this club and its fans can start to get giddy.

Absolutely.

I found the closing seconds quite dark and threatening; these lads have been exemplary on and off the pitch; they are Accrington Stanley’s reason for being. Putting out this sort of media is an insult to what they have achieved this season in my opinion. If this continues these lads may well take us into League One only to leave and disperse across the leagues.

Stop talking about building new stadia; it’s pointless when we can’t look after our own. Invest in what we have now “Our Players and their Managers” or someone else will.

I read it has "one more balls up on the wages front, and i'm off" John Coleman looked and sounded particularly angry to me. Every other club in the North West has now been alerted to this, two of which are still on the lookout for a manager.

Re: Late Kick Off Tonight

Quite upbeat as people say till the last little bit

My own thoughts at this stage are also reflected in that at the moment we are a way off any new stadium.

We have to work with what we have got in terms of facilities, supports & sponsorship opportunities things that make the place tick now on a day to day, yes no stone should be unturned in making it viable and self sufficient but at the moment everything is from a clean slate and we need to stabilise and build on what we have first & foremost get that support pushed up towards the 2000 mark and keep it there.

We are on the verge of something in terms of play-off spots here and anything that takes the focus away from that is not good.

This is the second time that this has been published or spoken in the press/media. Personally, whilst I have every sympathy for the team/management, I do not beleive they should be looking to the press/media to air their grievances, my own opinion is they should be looking to the directors and chairperson to moan to. Bad form in my book. Keep these problems in house but keep up the form on the field. When the manager says he is trying to keep the players away from these problems how on earth can he, they know if they have not been paid.

Absolutely agree with your post Ozzy & have to say I find it strange that it has only been spoken of in this way to the press since the takover was completed, never once did they mention it when the last regime was letting them down time & time again & we all know who paid the wages on those occasions so why would they doubt him now?

Re: Late Kick Off Tonight

I don't see how Cashy and I can't quite agree that it should be kept behind closed doors. I would suspect that this issue has been approached on numerous occasions without resolve and it's that frustration that's led to Coley voicing his concerns. Not one of us would work beyond reasonable limits without being paid; anybody else would have had there employer for breech of contract by this time and be at least £18k better off and still have a job.

I don't understand why they weren't paid first, not a lot of point paying off creditors if you have no player to bring people through the gates. We will never find the likes of John Colman or Jimmy bell again; if they go we'll end up with a succession of nowhere men and never do wells; people won't want to sign and even more support will fall away.

What are the key factors in investing in a Club - in my opinion it’s the Players on the field, no players, nothing to watch, nothing to watch - no supporters, no gates.

We shouldn't criticise Coley or the players for speaking out. We should be getting behind them and ensuring that there voices are heard.

shakermaker 18-04-2011 17:42

Re: Late Kick Off Tonight

We can all agree that the players should be paid on time, no excuses. Ilyas paid those wages whenever the club failed to do so in recent times. He made sure the players' bills were paid, mouths were fed etc. Now Ilyas has finally taken over the club (at ridiculous delay due to Whalley & O'Neill) and promised to get the club debt free, the manager chooses to publicly compain about the wages being late. Do you not find that strange Doug? That Coley didn't utter a word when it was Whalley & O'Neill being the cause of late wages but decides to do so now? Even when Ilyas has never failed to come good for the players?

Can't believe some people think that it should have remained behind closed doors , its been common knowledge for months and was even in proccys column
The players have total trust in what Coleman tells them both on and off the field, so i can only imagine they money men weren't straight with him and things he's promised have not happened ,undermining him
Most of these lads have families, bills and mortgages but still would run through walls for him, no wonder he's seething ,

If Coleman tells the players they will now be paid , I would imagine someone higher ur the ladder has furnished him with this info, and once again they don't get paid, I don't think if would be happy .

Basically redraine coley is saying players haven't been paid yet again (this being Saturday ) and isn't gonna tell the players if they are cos its of empty promises, words suchlike. I thought they had been paid and bemused why now come all out and say it when this has been a constant problem all season, totally shelling the rob Heys play down the difficulties on same show. I'm bemused at all this & the complete contrast in interviews, again making us more tinpot and desperate - or assured way to get the season ticket justification across - errr no idea

You ever heard the quote - ' do not wash your dirty linen in public' - unquote.
Same applies here. If I wasn't paid for my work I would not go to the Accy Observer, LET or LEP or even the BBC, I would go to my pay office at the County Council or even my local office where I work (this is where I would start, only going higher if I did not get a satisfactory answer! but under no circumstances would I go to the press.). Surely whoever is the players representative should be approaching a. Rob Heys, b. Peter Marsden, c. Ilyas Khan (in no particular order) to sort out the mess!

Outback,to a certain point I agree, how do u know the PFA were not contacted?,how do u know these people were not approached and give false promises?, there lads don't have agents ,only the gaffer, and I would imagine he's sick of it,hence goin public ,remind me who's favorite word is transparency ?,
The only positive thing to come out of this is the players and managers attitude, which is based on honesty and respect

I’m not against what you’re saying Ossy, under normal circumstances I would agree with you. However, I get the impression from Coley’s comments and the way in which they have been delivered that all what you say has been done to no avail. Why would John Colman jeopardise his standing, reputation and or position at the club if this wasn’t a serious issue that needed airing in order to get a resolve.

Football19; how much transparency are you expecting; from what I can see there’s less coming out of the club than there was this time last year and most of that is second-hand.

I am not knocking anyone; I do not doubt the sincerity of the club or the new board but I can’t get over all hype of backing the boys when there not being paid. Coley said that this was the third time in a row that they had been promised payment before a game and each time it had not happened. If John or any of the players walked now we would be up in arms, if there’s any form of transparency at Accrington Stanley our players should be paid and an explanation given has to why our promotion chances are being jeopardise and our players dishonoured.

As for Coley using the media the way he has; well it’s no more than what was done two years ago and he’s not branding anyone. He just wants his lads paid and their service to Accrington Stanley Honoured.

Don’t see it cashy, I don’t have any problem with Mr. Khan, quite the opposite, I have the utmost respect for what he’s done for the club and all of us. I had expected that someone would try and personalise this; I am however surprised it was you.

This thread is not and never has been about Ilyas Khan or his ownership of the club. It’s about our team being on the verge of a playoff place or better still automatic promotion and the fact that up until Saturday morning they had not being paid; looking at Coley’s body language and the tone of his response to camera I wouldn’t want anyone to wait too long before resolving this issue. All the recent publicity about backing the boys is meaningless if they themselves are getting into arrears in their personal lives, sooner or later key people won’t care about who owns the club or is responsible for not paying their wages; they will have gone..
