It only makes sense. You'd take some players to League 1 and keep more in League 2, I think the time has passed for contract talks.

Not sure if the rules are still the same but I think if a players contract expires at the end of the season they can talk to other clubs for next season from January 1st

we are kinda protected on players such as Ryan, Cisak, Gornell, McConville etc as they are under 24. So long as we can prove they are instrumental to our cause, we have developed them and that we have offered them an improved contract from the last one then we should still command decent money for them via a tribunal.

What did we get for Grant? I think it was around £125k plus add ons up to £225 maybe - well Ryan should smash that figure. He was released from Shrewsbury, without a club for a while then came here where he has played every game this season, and barely missed a game for three seasons.

We'd probably miss out with Cisak

We'd get something similar for McConville as we did Grant.

Not too sure about Gornell though as Tranmere would lay claim to having developed him. We've played him a lot mind but I don't think that would make much difference over 3/4 of a season.

Of the ones we could lose out on entirely, clubs don't tend to offer a lot of money for defenders in wages or transfer fee's so it might be difficult to entice Edwards anywhere significantly better than a club that he has played at for four or five years, and again, virtually ever present. Proccy would be a loss though. Maybe in our favour is that previously only similar clubs such as Macclesfield have come in for him so maybe wages wouldn't be much different.

I honestly don't think we'll suffer too much this season, compared to previous years. That is only provided that we keep hold of Coley. His body language on Late Kick Off suggested he is more than irked at recent events and I'd be worried that a club like Bury would be on the prowl. They are armed with around £175k of compo money for losing Knill so they could consider spending ALL of that on compo for Coley and all that has happened is that they have swapped Knill for Coleman. Decent swap? IF Coley goes anywhere that's where my money is going on

Key is happy players by that you know what I mean, League we are in against potential suitors and probably equally as important as the other two Coley himself.

For now before contracts focus has to be on the pitch because that will have it's own potential to add a feel good factor to proceedings.

I suppose the other thing that may come into play could be something as simple as HR in does the club have access to such things?

There was a group within "No Limits" called "Guardian Angels" that offer a variety of experienced,knowledgeable and skilled professionals who will help local companies with things like HR, project planning, marketing a whole plethora of areas that could help the Club.

I meant with 4 games left focus does need to be on winning these last games.

I was told by a Bury fan they'll keep the guy who's currently in charge, he's won 4 out of 4.

well i certainly hope thats the case, but Richie Barker is an inexperienced youth coach (I think) who was already on the books. He was given the job to start with in order to maintain continuity and try to keep the same ideas, players, and spirit that Knill had used to get them to 2nd place. Especially if they get promotion he won't have the same players, won't have the contacts to get the right new players in, little or no knowledge of contract negotiations etc etc.

You'd imagine that with the opportunity that promotion will bring to the club they'd not really want to gamble that opportunity against inexperience. But I hope they do :)
