Re: Burton Thread
Afternoon folks.
You've got me today, Dan on Lancs duty. Dry here at the Pirelli. Burton making end of season presentations on the pitch, whilst Stanley's v.different looking starting lineup makes its way back to the changing rooms. |
Re: Burton Thread
This is what the B B C have wrote ;-
Boss John Coleman will not make wholesale changes, despite his side preparing for the play-offs. |

Both sets of fans in full voice. 4: First corner to Burton |
Re: Burton Thread
5: Pressure down the right from Webster who gets the cross in for Burton. After a few attempts falls top Pearson who swivels and the shot goes wide

Re: Burton Thread
Firstly Alan Burton strikes a sweet shot along the floor which is parried and then cleared, bounces over richardson at left back. This leaves Calvin Zola with a 30 yards run in, one on one with Dunbavin and the weak shot is saved by the legs of the Stanley keeper.
28: Zola comes off injured |
Re: Burton Thread
Wycombe 2 - 1 southend
|
Re: Burton Thread
Stevenage 2 - 2 Bury
|
Re: Burton Thread
36: Burton putting on the pressure
sweeping play puts Malone in at the far post but shoots into the side netting. Seconds later and a deflected shot goes just wide. Nothing came from the corner. |
Re: Burton Thread
40: Chance of the match. Fell to Pearson of Burton Albion. Fed in near the penalty spot but Pearson shot wide when the whole of the Pirelli thought it was going in. Still 0-0

Re: Burton Thread
Well another good away day.
Was very surprised with Coleys starting XI along with many others, but proved to be a very wise decision. Good for some of the fringe players to get a run out, and even better they battled back from 0-1 down. Long went off at Half Time with a knock I assume, hoping its not too serious. Most impressive for me where Smyth at the back, who I thought looked composed and for me could be a regular 1st team player next season, as well as Turner who gave the Right Back loads of problems and delivered a peach of a ball for Deano's Goal. Im hoping he sneaks onto the bench in place of Murphy for next Sunday, as I thought Pete was very average today. Good to see Razor get 90 minutes, could have scored with a couple of great runs. Bring on the Boro Chat morons. |
Re: Burton Thread
Too many changes for me which meant a lack of rhythm & cohesion from back to front
First Half we were poor, distribution was woeful, back four looked all at sea at times with the exception of Kevin Long who just does the simple things but does it effectively and if the Brewers had had their shooting boots on they would have been out of sight by the end of the half. Second half with the introduction of Jimmy we started to play and then when Proccy came on it then added a bit of steel & purpose allowing the ball to be fizzed about creating a few half chances. So nice to see DJ get a run out and he created havoc with their right back and as Smudgie said and what a ball he put in from the free-kick. Nice to get a point to keep the run going and perhaps deserved with the Red's much improved second half performance there was certainly food for thought. |

Re: Burton Thread
A good point from the second string today.Totally agree about Murphy he had a very poor game and to say 9 out of the 11 starting are fighting for a bench place in the play offs I thought Boulding and Lindfield were weak, they didnt win challenges and lost balls at every opportunity. In the second half we did look more composed and to be fair if the subs had been used sooner it was a winable game.
Turner looked good and provided a great cross for Deano's goal . Dean played well and I thought Smyth had a decent game. Super Ultras loud as ever and a draw was a fair result. Good to see young Burto coming through a little shakey at times but maybe one for the future. |
Re: Burton Thread
A side note most impressed with the set-up at Burton in terms of how new stadiums go
If we were to get something similar eventually that will do for me |
Re: Burton Thread
Think the board has had a blonde moment with the triple post:eek:

Re: Burton Thread
I think Pendle Red's summed it up pretty well. There was some wayward shooting from the Brewers in the first half. Had a couple of those gone in it would have been a different story.
Both keepers deserve a mention. Bavs dealt with two one-on-ones and came out on top each time. And Adam Legzdins generously applauded the Stanley fans after the match before being presented with Burton's player of the season award on local radio. He came over well in his post-match interview. Deano did well to get into an umarked position for his goal and his shot was a beauty. But the BBC report is somehow crediting it to one of the Burton subs! |
