Re: Your team for Friday???
How you can include Craney after that showing on Sunday is beyond me.

Re: Your team for Friday???
The team had a collective stinker on Sunday; no one worse than another in my opinion. Can't rightly go dropping them all, can we. I'm confident that our most successful starting XI of the season can do the job at home. What's more, I think Craney will be instrumental in our success along with the likes of Edwards, Procter and Hess in getting the lads going. Sunday's gone. Let's do this.

Re: Your team for Friday???
No Changes, its our best eleven. Perhaps Putteril could be used a little earlier if its goes tits up.
If its worked to get us into the playoff, it will work on friday. |

Re: Your team for Friday???
I would go
Cisak Edwards Hessey Long Winnard Procter Jacobson Ryan Barnett Craney Gornell They wont be expecting this and i think it can cause them problems, long at the back for extra height hopefully procter can win a few but more importantly when we have the ball we are less likely to go long and the full back can get forward and the midfield can all play one or two touch football and should create plenty of chances to feet for the all the attacking players taking out being beat in the air going forward. McConville is to lightweight and Putterill is not match fit but could do a job last 30 mins, just my opinion |
Re: Your team for Friday???
That's ment to be 3-5-1-1 gornell up front with craney the top of the diamond could not get in the middle of the screen.:D

Re: Your team for Friday???
The shape tomorrow is simply the most important in the squads history, we have probably seen how Stevenage work in an attacking sense that threat remains and we have to deal with it but perhaps we have not seen what they offer as a defensive unit not that I am saying they will come and park the bus.
No wholesale changes for me maybe Joyce more as a sweeper but there has to be more options on the bench like for like may not be enough to turn this game around there has to be spark players that can change the shape and dynamics of the game whether thats in an attacking sense or looking to pack the midfield more. There is no room for complacency or sentiment this is quite simply down to one game now. Play as we know we can play, fight for each other as we know we can fight for each other and with voiciferous backing by a capacity crowd at the Crown and it can be ours for taking. |
Re: Your team for Friday???
Same side and system for me.
Craney is a match winner on his day, so he should be given at least 45 minutes to show that he can win this game for us. McConville just ahead of Putterill for the same reasons and Razer should be more effective when running at tired defenders. Hessey is central to our system IMO. He largely provides the link up play with Joyce or provides the ball into the channels and that more than compensates for his lack of height relative to Long. The problem on Friday was that Stevenage didn't allow Hessey the options for this distribution of the ball, so we saw Cisak kick the ball as many times in that match as he has done in the past month! Joyce was closed down as an option and their players also closed down the ball to the full-backs. For me, that was as much a successful Stevenage game plan as a failing by our midfielders to impose themselves on the game and push the Stevenage players back, thereby creating space for the pass-out from defence. If a 5-man midfield can't impose itself on the other team, the system will fail. I can't see these five players playing as poorly at home. |
Re: Your team for Friday???
simple solution really, same team,as they pushed men up on our back four,we still have to go longer than we want, but win the second ball.
If we do this then we gain posession in there half and we play it on the deck. If we do this, they will have to revert to a 4-5-1 and we can then build from the back. From the first leg they won most of the first and second phase balls, because 4 of our midfield 5 kept getting caught in a line ,were you need at least 2 dropping off. This isolated joycy in my opinion, and when he got on the ball had limited options. Once they get pinned back it will be game on |
Re: Your team for Friday???
Don't change the starting line-up.
I agree with Whalley Red, Craney simply has to play. At 2-0 down, we need to maintain ambition and go get the goals, Stevenage will bring a defensive mentality (whether they plan to or not) and won't allow any soft goals. Between him, Ryan and McConville we have our match winners in the team (no disrespect to the rest of the squad). From the games I have seen since he returned to the team, Craney can produce the little flick on, run past a player or arrive at the opportunistic moment to produce goals. The current defence (and Joyce) should be left well alone as they are settled, and not allow themselves to be bullied in the air and the 'second ball' by the big Stevenage forwards. Also, Proctor needs to have the game of his life, run himself into the ground by full time and get the lads going. Nerves are jangling, but.... I believe. |
Re: Your team for Friday???
me too go for the 11 that started (but didn't turn up ) at satanage they simply have to turn up do their job don't be bullied and we know we are better than they are and tomorrow could be hell of a night.. just hope craney is fit for the biggest night of his career
