Sam,I think Coleman missed a trick in my opinion,by not playing him in at least one of the last two games.
It would have given Stevenage plenty to think about because of his experience on the pitch.
He can also play wide and thro the middle,so it could of give us a plan B ,without making subs.
Ihave been a supporter of sean mac all season, but before a ball was kicked,I had a feeling it wouldnt be his type of game which put pressure on Acci when they had the ball.

Re: The playing budget.

I think everybody realises we had too many players this season, yes we where VERY lucky with injuries & suspensions, but for the first time EVER Heys talks abit of sense mentioning the amount of players we had sat in the stands every week.

Surely if we can reduce the squad in terms of numbers we can keep the quality core of players we need to challenge again.

Im just hoping the likes of Sunbed, Hessey, Jacobsen, Ryan, Gornell, Cisak etc have been offered 2 year deals, then we can really start building for the future.

Thats to me the main thing "2 year deals" fer the core of the team.

Rather surprising that one for me.

No doubt he can be an asset WHEN he's fit, but how many games has he missed in the last two/ three seasons through injury???

Way too many, maybe he is on a pay-as-you play deal?

Thanks for the ride Fellas !!! from next season I'll be supporting Macclesfield Town, for reasons that are obvious just a couple of posts up. I've enjoyed supporting Stanley and being honest would have loved things to have gone better and had the chance to follow the Reds again this season.

A season of two halves for me (and Stanley). Up to November, absolutely loved it, November to the end of the season was frustrating for me but fantastic for the team. I did defect to Altrincham in March and April, but it just wasn't the same.

Highlights of the season for me included the Newcastle match, that was a terrific night at the Crown, but from a "fans" point of view the previous round at Doncaster was an incredible event. The support from the Stanley fans at the keepmoat that night was the best show of support I've ever seen anywhere, from any fans, in 40 plus years of watching footy. 120 minutes of non stop chanting, drumming and singing. I drove home after that match tingling with excitement.

Best of luck this coming season and thanks for the support my lad has received from this messageboard and the fans in general. I'm proud to say my lad played for ACCRINGTON STANLEY, and so is he.

Take it easy Larry; hope you and John both have success, both on the park and in life itself. Once Accrington Stanley is in your veins it never leaves you. You will always be; and forever Red, no matter where you roam or how long it takes you. All the best.

Fair play for coming on here and saying that. I think we all agree along with Chris Turner , Jon was treated abit harshly last season and no doubt we are all big fans of his.

Im sure he will make the RB position his own at the Silkmen.

Bateson did well early season when we we had a good start. When we hardly let a goal in against us for about 6 or 7 matches, then he got sent off at Bury, (harshly), and never got another look in. Hope he doesn't come back to haunt us!!?? Good luck to the lad, hope he does well, except when we play them!!

Disappointing, but not totally unexpected. I would think that this will just be the first of many over the next few days, as contracts end and pre-season starts.

At least things are coming to a head and JC will have a clearer idea of what he needs for the coming season.

Hope Phil's increased wages will support the bigger mortgage required down south - good luck to him, even tho he's missed the chance of getting nearer to Stanley leg end status. Wot were you thinking Phil ?!

he will make a good impact sub, doesnt have the legs for a full 90 minutes nor does he make much of an impact if he starts a game.

decent league 2 squad player.

Davo, you stated parky doesnt have the legs anymore?,what do you base this on?,was you at training every day?.
For your information,he was in the top three fittest players in the squad !!,I know i have mentioned this before, but i couldnt understand Coley not using him more,I can only presume his style of play didnt suit the system played,or he just couldnt dis-lodge the form players

Re: 7 Released

Thank you kind sir. Garbage it may be in your eyes, but it is my opinion and I'm entitled to express it - as indeed you are with your misguided comment about Rob Heys. However, I fail to see league clubs forming a queue for Turner's signature and, if indeed, he's signed for Barrow, I rest my case. I shall be watching his progress with interest.

cashman 14-07-2011 23:22

Re: 7 Released

disagree gobbin, think turner will certainly develop into a league player, we shall see.

football19 15-07-2011 07:43

Re: 7 Released

I think you are both correct but coming from different angles.
Oldgobbin, hes already played at this level,so obviously, when on the top of his game he can again.
There lies the problem.Only Chris will know if he wants it badly,as the saying goes, you are only as good as your last game.
Its nearly two years since he was in a rich vein of form, and in my opinion,he should have gone out on loan(like Jon Bateson did),to get him going again.
I ve seen loads of players go down this avenue, talented lads, whos fire in there belly goes out,and they drift out into non-league.
Didnt Radcliffes goalie play at man utd?,another lad, rated as the next big thing at man utd was realeased by Altrincham recently!
You can blame everybody, but in the end its how bad the player wants it,and how he deals with other distractions that come a young lads way.

:) Andy Owens has signed for Southport :) Liam Watson, manager of Blue Square Bet Premier club Southport, concluded the signing of left-sided centre back Andy Owens after training on Thursday night.

Owens signs from npower League Two side Accrington Stanley.

Owens was born in Liverpool and started his career at Stoke City. He then played in non-League football with Stafford Rangers and Altrincham.

Owens trained with Glen Hoddle Academy in Spain before moving to Morecambe and Accrington last season.

Watson said: "Andy can play at centre back and left back which gives me versatilty and competition in the squad."
