Anyone notice all the soil stacked up behind the scratting shed, it seemed to run the full length of the Whinny Hill side. I wondered if they had run a drain down that side, behind the shed. Could possibly help soak up water running down the hill.

Re: New Drains

Tommy I took some pictures around the outside of the ground before the trip to Stevenage and I can comfirm from having a wet foot all day that there is a ditch running right behind the shed end. The coppice half even has reeds sticking out of it.

:)

I wonder how much more that cost ? It should be free as the last one didn't work at all .

I believe in the region of £30k with the re-seeding as well.

no it was all the grass from the field, went down on bank holiday monday, and they had taken about 3 inches off, and there was a fresh pile at the back of the stand.

Blimey - it looks like it's had a real going over. Lets hope the water collected by the new drains is able to escape somewhere!

All the top stuff was taken off, it's had more drains and sprinklers fitted.

Re: New Drains

The head groundsman (buzzer) had flooded the pitch with the sprinklers about an hour before I took those pictures so it seems the drains are working, the contactors are back again this week to seed it again apparantly this gives two levels of growth and a better surface, I don,t know but it seems to make sense, will nip up again at weekend and take some spot the difference pics (no prizes) lol.

Don't you need players before you start to think about playing?????

There will be plenty of players, stop panicking :)

It would be stupid to play on the pitch too soon, especially a low key friendly against some club from India :D

Just back from a quick visit to the theatre of dreams to buy some merchandise. Pitch looks immaculate. As for the player situation, to quote Lew: "If you've brought your boots, we'll give you a trial." ;)

By the way, Lew, thanks for giving the family a guided tour of the stadium, complete with annecdotes. They now know where the old man disappears to every fortnight during the season! :D

I don't see the point of doing all that work to have a load of Premier League Hoofers dancing on it for the sake of a pre season friendly. Save the pitch for the League games. :)

It looked green enough last night when I saw it from a few thousand feet up. It's not often that you can see the Crown Ground, Gigg Lane and Rammy United's pitches all at once!

Three things:

1) The picture is about a week old - due to the fact that it has poured down the last few times I've been at the club I've not been able to get one of any standard that's up to date!

2) The pic isn't cropped on the front page to deceive anyone - if the full size one goes on there the website loads at a snail's pace.

3) There is still a month until that Carling Cup game against Scunthorpe - at the same stage last summer you would have been hard pressed to see any grass at all!

Keep your eye on the website and I'll try and update once a week between now and then...

The one in Burnley or the one in Accrington ? :D

Think only one person knew about the rumour, certainly nothing passed through our gossip shop and there has been nothing on the Burnley sites. Guess it was a pathetic attempt at having a reason to ring Rob up to see if any other info could be obtained
