Re: training or staying
no offense intend cashman, your one of the forum regulars i like.
Although some of your opinions make me mad! and in the end, you all come round to my way of thinking. I was right about John Miles, about the SOS fund being a front for O'neill, about Iylas being the right man, Craneys return, etc. |
Re: training or staying
none taken davo.;)

Re: training or staying
while Jeffers is training with us it is getting closer and closer to the season starting and him not training with other clubs who could pay him more. 6 month contract, £300 a week - there you go Francis, there's your shop window now put yourself in it. If he starts to show anything like what he was when he was younger then shove a £2000 contract down with an extra 18 months on it

Re: training or staying
All I want to see is players wearing the Red who have Pride in the shirt
A hunger, a desire and determination to give 100% to the cause The "Fox in the Box" can he still do a job? If he has the above then he could be an astute signing as well as being a coo in terms of a named signing. |
Re: training or staying
He has got nothing to lose signing for us.
No doubt money isnt an issue after earning his millions playing for Everton & Arsenal. Why not give us a chance ,get fit, get some game time, and bang in 20 goals :) Do it Franny !!! ;) |

Re: training or staying
With all the talk about Franny Jeffers, what about other trialists. Who do others think should be signed up? On a personal note, from what I have heard/read, how about John Routledge, still only 22 but seems to be having some decent games. And what about the defence (the 2 youngsters released from Burnley)? Those of you who have been to watch the matches could maybe point the finger at one or two of these trialists. What about a goalie as well? Other than Bav's we have no-one YET!
Answers on a postcard addressed to - No only kidding, but answers on this thread would be useful. Work commitments bar me from attending most if not all these re-season games. |
Re: training or staying
Well ive been to both pre-season games and as for the trailists ive seen Guthrie obviously caught the eye the most and its great we have snapped him up.
Murdock (the keeper that played at Morecambe) looked half decent, though he didnt have much to do, as did (Welsby) that played at Radcliffe. The most impressive for me along with Guthrie was Darville, that played Right Back yesterday. Routledge has also had two decent games in Midfield. Thought the 2 lads from Burnley looked half decent at Radcliffe, maybe they will play at Cammel Laird this week and maybe again on Saturday at Barrow. As Coley says, they are playing a behind closed practice game tomorrow after which he will probably know who's going and who's staying. Looking at the squad as a whole...... I think we need another striker, and a couple of wide midfield players and we are almost there. I said dont panic ;) |
Re: training or staying
i sure won't panic, have a good feeling about the coming season.:)
|
Re: training or staying
There are actually 3 Burnley lads on trial, the 2 who were released and one who's currently still there but may be released in a couple of months.

Chris Lynch looked steady and assured at Radcliffe, hard to judge the keeper yesterday kicking looked good and was quick with the throw outs for the counter attacks. I am not sure if he wore the number eleven yesterday but I think he did at Radcliffe and played the first half Geoff I think he was called look very assured on the ball and covered a lot of the pitch and as you mentioned Routledge looks very sharp. The other one for me was number three at Radcliffe left back looked very assured in that role and had a couple of lung bursting runs down the left with decent crosses in but then got injured in the second half he looked like he could play a few roles either as a left back or a wide man. The standard of all the players used in the two friendlies that Stanley have all been good with none seeming overawed with the games and all contributing to enjoyable friendlies. |
Re: training or staying
Ah yes I agree the LB at Radcliffe was very good.
I cant see him getting a deal though with the arrival of Coid and Mcintyre. |
Re: training or staying
is kellaway still around
|
Re: training or staying
Pendle think no11 at Radcliffe was Geoff Kellaway 25 year old left winger born in Dorchester , started his career at Aberyswyth town 2003-4 season. Was named in the 2009-10 welsh premier league team of the season,in August 2010 he went to OZ and joined Melbourne Victory he was released at the end of the 2010-11 season and came back to the UK.

Re: training or staying
cheers fella his cv sounds quite impressive yet after the radcliffe game when he seemed pretty lively wasn't mentioned against rovers
|
Re: training or staying
Kellaway played the 1st 45 minutes against Blackburn, he was listed as a trailist.

Re: training or staying
Was a mention further down the thread that he may be going abroad?
Looks like Rory Boulding has been snapped up Livingston boss Gary Bollan snaps up striker Rory Boulding from Accrington Stanley - The Daily Record That front position still looks on the lightweight side for Stanley at the moment, Kurtis offers something different which I have said before and excites me as a footballer, it would be great if he could hit the ground running in league two but could be a big ask and may take time to adjust, Linfield has not really filled the potential since his first loan move here from Liverpool where he played one of a front two rather than as a lone striker. Most other positions do look covered from the one's signed and the triallists I would just like to see an experienced front man brought in even on loan as we have lost a lot of firepower from midfield and up front and at the end of the day it's goals that get three points. |

Interesting to see Dean signed for Bradford today on a 2 yr deal |
Re: training or staying
Think we missed a trick signing Dean.
He looked quality away at Barrow in pre-season. Maybe his injury record got in the way. |
Re: training or staying
Saw him play against radcliffe, and must admit he did ok.
Dont know the lad,but whats his prefered position?,as Bradford have some experienced and good young fullbacks. I liked the look of the burnley "on trial" centrebacks, have they been fixed up yet??. |
