Former Players - help please
Greetings
One of the programme features for the new season concerns former players who have served the club with distinction or become fans favourites, profiling them and ideally speaking to them and catching up with them. What I want from the good people of Accyweb is suggestions - both for who you'd like to see featured and any locations or contacts for people that you know used to play for the club. As ever you can post on here or drop me an email - [email protected] I look forward to what you come up with! Ta Dan |

Bill White - Walter Galbraith's first signing. Living in St Annes these days and a mate of Jaysay's.

Re: Former Players - help please
It would add to the quality of the programme if readers learned about the names, careers and 'after life' of ex-players. Les Cocker and John Ryden are names that today's supporters should be aware of - and proud of. No different to Matthews and Morty being referred to in the Seasiders' programmes.

Jonathon Smith & Brett Omerod.

Re: Former Players - help please
Much detail on past players can be found in 'Accrington Stanley; a complete record' by Jackman & Dykes. I have sent an offer of a copy to Dan.

Re: Former Players - help please
Lutel, Mike Marsh, Eddie Johnstone and, if you're including those no longer with us, Stan Lynn?
Also, there's an interesting connection where some ex-Accy players from 1962, such as Bob Wilson and George Forrester, went on to play non-league with Sankey's in Shropshire, whose old pitch not far from Telford United's, is now, sadly, another housing estate, although the road opposite their former ground still carries the name Stadium Way. |
