Shirt Sponsorship 2011-2012
Time to start gauging interest for this seasons sponsored shirt. Last season both winners have actually got the shirt or arranged an alternative. :)
The latter part of that leads us to a request for feedback for the club. In view of the annual ‘try and get the shirt back off the player’ game, of which there is no 100% system that can be put in place to get the players shirt off them, should the club offer the sponsorship as a slightly different package ? One suggestion is to actually sponsor the player but receive a replica shirt, named and certified, and to receive that shirt from the player concerned on the pitch before a game. This would then give the club a further ‘income’ facility at the end of the season to auction off the players actual shirt, or at least the ones they manage to get back. Let us know what you think If you are interested in the usual shirt draw run on here, at the moment we think it’s the usual price ( £100 ) but that may go up. We will still take the £10 a ticket option but if the price goes up then the number of names going in each draw will vary accordingly. So if it stays the same, each pot will have 10 names in it, if the price goes up to £120 as an example then 12 names will go in the pot. We can accept paypal payments, pm for details. |
Re: Shirt Sponsorship 2011-2012
It's good for me Dave, many thanks for stepping up again. I like the idea that you've outline and think it's a great alternative.
It's not the same as having something that the players have groaned and grunted in all season but that’s not to everyone's taste either. Sponsoring the player is for me the way forward; perhaps the club could throw in a signed last game of the season programme signed by Coley and all the boys as a sweetener. Put me in for a tenner or whatever for each shirt you do Dave. |
Re: Shirt Sponsorship 2011-2012
I'm in on that basis Dave, please pm me the paypal details.
Getting a replica shirt at the start of the season sounds a good idea to me. As the organiser of the AccyWeb sponsorship, obviously you should receive ours, I'm sure you'd take the opportunity to dress appropriately :D |
Re: Shirt Sponsorship 2011-2012
Certainly the club's sponsorship deal doesn't do what it says on the tin. £££'s wanted up front of course but getting the shirt at end of season is like drawing teeth. After chasing for last term's shirt, it eventually arrived - unlaundered and unsigned ! Reckon it must be a job nobody wants to take on at the club.

I think it's more a case of logistics. Somebody would have to stand guard in the dressing room for the last game and make sure each shirt is counted in and counted out. I think the problem there lies with the fact that the players themselves feel they have the right to their own personal souveneir ( I reckon if we were players we would probably think the same ), and their boss probably has the same view ;) As you said in your post, it doesn't do what it says on the tin, but it can :) I know at Burnley if you sponsor the players shirt you don't get the one they play in, and you need a mortgage for it :D |
Re: Shirt Sponsorship 2011-2012
:) DIDN'T SOME OF THE PLAYERS THROW THERE SHIRT IN TO THE CLAYTON END AT THE END OF THE STEVENAGE PLAYOFF GAME :) Ithink thats what happened but i might be wrong:)

As a matter of interest, perhaps the club could give the player a new shirt for the last game. There will then, be 2 match worn shirts, one for the player to do as he sees fit and the other for the sponsor. |

As said previously there are options, but it needs total co-operation from absolutley EVERYBODY!! PS I think I'm in charge of this season's plan, with the the Superb receptionist Sue. If all goes ok, the lady can have the credit and I'll mop up the issues!! PPs No shirts weren't thrown into the crowd, (as far as a know) only training kit.:) |
Re: Shirt Sponsorship 2011-2012
Mr T, would it be possible to sponsor a kit EACH month?
I'm reasonably certain that this medium could gather ten people each month to sponsor a shirt every month for the duration of the season. Each shirt could then be given to the winner at the next home match. If each month was fully subscribed (to one shirt) then that would be the equivalent of £800/£900 each season. Once winners can be seen to be getting what they have paid for it might even persade more entries? Dace, put me down for two entries please |

On a personal level if we were entering every month we would probably take the view we might as well chuck a little bit extra and sponsor our own for corparate advertising. Ultimatley I also think it's complicating what is already a system that doesn't work too well at the club. Let them get the simple things right, THEN keep them on their toes later :D |
Re: Shirt Sponsorship 2011-2012
