Re: very early notts county match thread
Some thing i picked up,should answer you ? nige :) Sean Hessey and Tom Bender are set to bolster Accrington's defensive options for the FA Cup first-round trip to Notts County.
Hessey has been on the sidelines with hamstring and hip problems, but played a full part in training this week alongside Bender. The 19-year-old suffered a sickening head injury in the subsequently abandoned Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash with Tranmere, but was an unused substitute in the win over Bristol Rovers last weekend and has been cleared for a return to action. Fellow defender Peter Murphy was sent off against Rovers and misses out, while goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin suffered a gashed leg after 14 minutes of the 2-1 win and is being monitored. On-loan Blackburn forward Micah Evans marked his debut with the opening goal last week and is eligible for cup action, although Stanley are waiting on clearance for loanees Luke Dobie, Will Hatfield, Kevin Long and Jayden Stockley. Ian Craney (broken leg) is a long-term absentee, altough the midfielder is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation and may return before the new year. |

I would be suprised if Burnley let Long play,it just wouldnt make sense as I would expect him to have a game for them after January

Re: very early notts county match thread

Re: very early notts county match thread
We apparently had two shots and no corners; they had 22 shots and 8 corners
And 11 players for the whole game :( |

Re: very early notts county match thread
We survived quite well until the first goal, but we were ONLY surviving, offering zilch up front. Embarrassing after that, and why we have brought in the lad from Bournemouth is a mystery. He has no pace, a lousy first touch, and hardly won any challenge up front. Give me Guthrie any day. Oh, and Jamie Speare, too.

Re: very early notts county match thread
Just got back from the game and for those who didnt attend,we started in our normal 4-2-3-1 with the holding players being hughes and Joycy and proccy/hessey cbs.
In my opinion they were a far better organised team and out thought/passed us from the start. Proccy at centre back?,hes not exactly re-nowned for his pace and only got away with it because Burgess is no wippet. Coleman said he was our best player,no chance, and I would suggest he gets clued up on how a centre back should play. Cant blame proccy as hes not a centre back, and maybe the gaffer is trying to justify finding a place in the team for him, when Bender is on the Bench. All it did was make us defend deep, which in turn makes it near impossible to press the ball. Barnett just never turned up and along with coid were dragged of just after half time. The keeper had a nightmare and hope the goals arent as bad as I fear, beat at near post and from a 35 yard free kick. No player can say they played well, because they didnt!!, and the manager has to take some responsibility as he set out the formation and tactics,ie; playing a young lad up front,on his own,and going long. I look forward to reading other posts who may dispute the above, but its the worst display since Port vale by a country mile. |

Do you think so Dave?,I would be suprised if Howe doesnt give him a few games and possibly loan him out to a first div club, like Leeds did with Tom Lees and monitor his development.

Re: very early notts county match thread
Just watched the goals, and the defending was worse than i first thought.
The first ,Proccy was five yards behind everybody and just wasnt strong enough. The second,Hessey didnt come out and played Judge onside(although keeper should have saved it) The third was just a joke, the ball travelled 35 yards and never moved The fourth could have been avoided, but mcIntyre(who had a decent game) got drawn in. And the sending off by could have been avoided by not letting the ball bounce(caused by playing too deep) The positives are that all the above are fixable mistakes/faults and County knocked out prem teams last year and took city to a reply. We did miss Long yesterday, and you start to realise how good positionally he is as well as being a good player |
Re: very early notts county match thread
I raised my eyebrows when some on here were saying that Murdoch is better than Cisak. If they still believe that, they need certifying. Bring back Bavs, asap. Failing that, get Jamo in.

Re: very early notts county match thread
Simply not good enough simple as that. Even know I wasn't there the match stats say it all. 22 shots 8 corners notts county, 2 shots 1 corner accrington. We were beaten by a team who is pushing for championship. Bit harsh on Murdoch, seems by report he made countless saves which kepted the scoreline down.

Re: very early notts county match thread
Hope the Accy fan that came in their clubhouse managed to get his car as apparently it was towed away.
Spent last 20 in the bar as i couldnt watch anymore of it. Nothing upfront, missed long and county were a very good side. Always next year!! WHO LET THE GOUCK OUT! |
Re: very early notts county match thread
Stanley,I dont think hes a poor keeper,he just had a poor game.
His head went for a while after the second goal,no keeper likes being beat at his near post. Once he settled again,he regained his composure and made a couple of good saves, then slipped again which seemed to get to him. Hopefully he uses it as part of his learning curve. |
