Re: Macc v Acc
A much improved performance from last week. Stanley really went after them from the off, but it was the same old story with us lacking a presence up front, although Linfield worked his socks off. Macc were really dangerous up front, counter-attacking with pace and power in the second half, but we defended stoutly, getting in some crunching tackles to keep them at bay. I was moaning when Coley took off our most creative player, who had just brought a cracking save from their (very good) keeper, and brought on the last sub I wanted to see on the pitch. Hats off to him, though, as it did the trick, and it was a very good finish by the lad. Hopefully we can build on this, but we really need to play with more composure in possession as we gave it away far too often.

Re: Macc v Acc
Smudge isn't far off ,but about the subs made by coley, inspired, taking off our better midfielders and going 4-4-2,although it was more like 4-2-4 ,lad got across Dean for the goal from a corner, but as usual smudge failed to mention deans cross for the goal or preventing a goal when macc broke and was 4 on 1, lol

Well then football19 instead of criticising my views, write your own, just as detailed.

Man of the Match for me was the referee who I thought was excellent. No bookings and he allowed the game to flow. I cannot recall one decision that he (and his assistants) got wrong. |
Re: Macc v Acc
Interesting how they lined up,acci going 4-3-3 and macc 4-1-3-2, the first half we struggled to get ur and support linfield, but we defended well, holding a higher line than previous weeks . You know what maccs threat would be,long throw ins, corners, free kicks, and although we conceded, thought we did ok .Turning point was the subs and opening the game up, stockley give us a physical presence, and mica and almond give us width.we looked a different team.bavs had a shaky start , but his kicking game sometimes doesn't get the credit it deserves , m o m defo hessey,

Re: Macc v Acc
It's worrying how we have become experts at dominating games in terms of territory/possession, yet carving out less chances on goal than the opposition. Teams don't have to do much to defend against us and can concentrate on their counter-attacks/set pieces. If teams work on those in their preparation before their game with us, like Macclesfield obviously did, the likelihood is that one or more of their efforts will result in a goal, even if we defend well (which we did for the majority of yesterday's game). Our forward play must get much better. There's a severe lack of movement and therefore options in the final third. Micah Evans gave the ball away too many times because his team mates weren't giving options to him before the Macclesfield players closed off all avenues. We were right to go 4-4-2 and reaped the benefits. Good goal by Stockley.

Shaker, having watched Micah a few times, prior to him coming to Acci, his strengths are with the ball at his feet in the last third.
On saturday he got forced too deep in the first half, but came alive the further forward he got when we went 4-4-2. If he played off the front man in a 4-4-2,i think he would be a real asset, thats why i mentioned how macc set up ie 4-1-3-2,i think that would suit the players we have. |
