Kurtis Guthrie

Joined Southport on loan until January 2nd.

Good move for both the player and the club, in my opinion. Best of luck to him. Hope he gets some good game time.

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

SFC fan in peace.

News just come through about Guthrie. Thoughts and opinions about him? Seems like a lad with a lot of promise who perhaps just needs a slightly easier groundbreaking?

shakermaker 24-11-2011 15:02

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

That's exactly it. It was always going to be a massive ask for him to make the jump to this level from amateur leagues, but the lad certainly has talent. He's a tall striker, quite lightweight, with a decent touch and a decent dig. He's been unlucky not to get a few league goals under his belt (the offside that never was at Northampton & the bar rattling screamer at Plymouth) so I hope he can put some away at Southport and get some confidence.

cavjj 24-11-2011 15:06

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

From our point of view sounds like just what we need at the moment.

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

Sounds like a good move by both parties to me. think he will do ok at southport n hopefully give the kid some confidence. cos hes certainly a trier, think accy was a step to high.to early, needs experience of matches. wish him well n hope he returns to do the business.:):alright:

Great news for all parties !!!

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

Great move for the lad.Lets not forget his age and he will only get better.
More experienced players have struggled playing the loan striker, and you will be suprised what a few goals and a run of games will do for his confidence.

I doubt he'll find it any easier in the Conference. From my experience of watching both levels, there is little or no difference. I suppose Southport are playing with bags of confidence at the moment though.

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

with ref to Kurtis surely the point of a loan spell is to get match experience and in his case score goals and with it gain confidence so why is he sitting at The Crown watching Stanley....What is this loan agreement all about, seems a tad pointless to me!

If that's true, what the hell was the point of loaning him to a side who won't play him????

Or does this mean that Bournemouth are recalling Jayden Stockley ??? I got the distinct feeling that it was a man saying "goodbye" when Jayden got subbed in the Daggers game...hope I'm wrong....as I thought the lad had a good game !!!!!:(:(:(

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

Well, he was absolutely awful for Port. I saw every game he played in and wasn't impressed once. Worst thing was probably his attitude. Seeing him actually sprint was a rarity. Glad you've got him back.

I have been informed by others that he has been released due to attitude problems, despite efforts by the management team, very silly lad if you ask me.

glad he has been released. looked promising in pre season but from what i saw of him he lacked enthusiasm . Kevin and perry sprung to mind.

Shame thought the potential was yon, but lacking in attitude, agree wi outback, silly lad. Stanley aint a club that can afford to carry people.

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

His twitter profile use to say "Professional footballer for accrington stanley and fully qualified chef" Now it just says "Professional footballer and fully qualified chef"

Shame if it was an attitude problem, thats something he may regret in later life when he is flipping burgers.

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

Ive heard on the grapevine that it was infact Kurtis that ended the relationship with the club. Matt Groening has commisioned a new simpsons movie using real life people and kurtis has been offered the part of "Side Show Bob" .Good luck Kurtis .

Seen loads of lads in down this road, they should look at Murphy to see were hard work gets you, talent only gets you so far, shame really as he seemed a nice lad

Is this meant to be amusing? I consider it to be in poor taste.

Cheers for that and I am sure that every Stanley FAN wishes Kurtis all the best :) :)

On another day, he scores at Northampton, then finishes top scorer with 20+.....

:) :) :) :)

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

The few times I have seen him, I quite liked watching Kurtis play. He was living the dream – plucked from non-league obscurity and given a chance at a League Club. Maybe it was a step too far, but at least he had a chance that most of us never got close to. If that screamer had gone in at Plymouth, then he would have been filled with confidence, starting the next game and then who knows………. If this chance has passed him by due to a poor attitude, then that’s a waste. If it’s because he is not good enough, then it’s hardly his fault.

Good Luck Kurtis, hope you stay in the game and get another chance somewhere else.

I don't get what there is to be offended at, have I missed summat ?

As far as I could tell Kurtis has a big shock of an afro and resembles the character Sideshow Bob from the Simpsons, I thought it was a belting nickname!

Same here. I don't understand what was so "offensive" about it.

If one person believes it to be of bad taste it warrants a retraction.IMHO

Someone has made a far better comment on this section that people have either missed or ignored. Im sure it was done on purpose :D

So you don't know why it's supposedly in "bad taste" and you've just apologised as a kneejerk reaction? Seems pretty wimpish to me.

sausage butty 10-05-2012 19:35

Its in bad taste because the person who its aimed at could take offence.

Why could he take offence? Because his hairstyle's the same as a cartoon character? If he did take offence over a harmless bit of fun like that he's obviously not cut out for football!

DaveinGermany 10-05-2012 19:56

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

Marouane Fellaini-Bakkioui. :)

If we're talking hairstyles, plus if you're on about possibly misconstruing & causing offence you'd best write off the nickname Toto too. ;)

Wynonie Harris 10-05-2012 20:05

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

Here's a young man with (in my opinion) considerable football talent who for reasons we don't know and shouldn't speculate about, has not fulfilled his promise at his first professional club. Reckon someone taking the micky out of his hairstyle is the last thing he'll be worrying about!
