What's the news on Kevin?
Is he staying? Going? What? :o
All together now ............. "We want Kevin to stay We want Kevin to stay We want Kevin to stay ..............................." 'Cos he's awesome. And Irish. But mostly 'cos he's awesome! :D :alright: |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
Its essential we keep him, simple.
Only snag I can see is Burnley wanting him to play in League One from now till the end of the season, then he's ready for the Championship next year. |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
And our joint second highest scorer (with 4) :hothothot
And Irish .......... :o And awesome ............... :D |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
I think that Smudgie has it spot on!!!!!
|
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
But has anybody got any actual information?
|
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
The only two people that will know are Eddie Howe and Coley, simples.

Re: What's the news on Kevin?
We need him to stay, a rock in our defence.
|
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
I can't see that a few months League 1 football for the rest of this season will be a requirement. I suspect the main issue is if Burnley sign Ben Mee on a permanent basis from City. If so I reckon they will let Kevin carry on and he will start again next season as backup to the main central defenders.
The other option of course is that Burnley get an offer in for him |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
According to Leam and Paddy on Twitter he has gone back :(
Come on Coley work your magic ;) |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
I seem to recall Long was prevented from playing for Stanley in the FA Cup. Maybe he's going to get a run out at Norwich to see how he's progressed
|
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
Well remembered Dave.
I think he has been without a doubt our best player this season. Can he cut it at Championship level?? Without a doubt. |

Re: What's the news on Kevin?
mmm,big call that smudgie,he has the tools to play at championship level, but no experience.
Jumping two divisions is a massive step, and with Ben Mee being a young lad,I doubt they would play them together. For his development,i would go the Tom lees route, and get him a loan at a top first division team. Really do rate the lad tho. |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
Sorry Football 19, but theTom Lees route involved a top second division team at the time - Bury. So what are we?
|
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
My mistake old gobbin, thought he played in the first divison for them.
Cant remember him playing against acci |

Re: What's the news on Kevin?
Good luck to the lad ....... just wish we could have kept him a bit longer :(
|
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
Wish him all the best, its great watching young talent develop especially at your club.
Bit of a concern tho if Hesseys out,we shall wait and see |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
Mr Long will be missed.
Wonder if Dr. Proctor could fill the role if need be? |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
Im gutted - hes come into his own at stanley, glad i got his shirt hope it still brings long luck.
|
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
If you think back to his debut, when he - it was said - tripped Adam le Fallover in the penalty area and was sent off, he's come on by massive leaps and bounds, and has turned into a rock at the heart of our defence, and a more than useful goal poacher to boot.
He's been immense, and we'll miss him. :( All the best Kevin - and thanks from the Clayton End :alright: |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
I am sure we all thank him for his excellent service to the Club.
I hope for better news with regard to Bryan Hughes. |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
Gutted he has gone , good luck mate.
A great chance for Tom Bender. No news on Stockley?? |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
Can only wish the kid well, solid, never let us down n deserves his chance, sick as a pig though.
|
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
A bright and successful future surely awaits for Kevin Long. Like so many more who have gained many benefits from their time with John Coleman and Jimmy Bell
and gone on to greater things, he will be remembered by all those fans who recognize quality players who give sterling service to our Club. I too wish him well and look forward to seeing him starring in some Premiership and International roles in the near future !. |

Re: What's the news on Kevin?
Rumours of him moving to Bury for the rest of the year.
I HATE being proven right sometimes !! :( Good luck though Kev, my player of the season so far without a doubt !! |
Re: What's the news on Kevin?
Kevin has been a revelation at Stanley and in particular being the rock at the heart of the defence this season where he was pretty much in the running for man of the match in every game he has donned the famous Red shirt and has chipped in with a few goals as well as being a threat on set pieces.
Good Luck Kevin it has been a pleasure to watch you come to the fore at Stanley |
