Must be a decent player if he played at Wigan!!:)
He must be around 20/21 ???,so still plenty of mileage in him

Still 18 according to this:
Liam Willis - - transfermarkt.co.uk

And he's also described as a striker on Southport's site:

Maybe Wigan are fielding such a young team a 7pm kick off would be past their bedtime, or they have to get back for more important things at night.... Rugby :D

Presumably it costs more in electricty than they take on the gate

Who cares? It doesn't matter if they kick off at the crack of dawn or play it behind closed doors. As long as Leam gets to give his squad a run out in something resembling a competitive match, that's all that matters.

Let's face it, no matter what time the game is played it won't suit everyone - not everybody works Monday to Friday 9 - 5, there'll be some who wouldn't have been able to make it for a night game & if this arrangement is best for the team so be it - what happened to getting 110% behind the new regime?
When we had a reserve team, a lot of their games were played in the afternoons & I don't remember many complaining about it then?
Surely all that matters is that those who can get there, go & support our lads & give 'em an extra shout for those of us that can't

Many of us would like to go, but the floodlights use lots electricity, and 200 people paying £3 would not cover the cost.
Also, with the weather as it is at the moment, the pitch would probably be freezing in the evening. There is a bigger chance the pitch would be payable in the afternoon.

I don't like it, but it's best for the club, and that is, in reality, all that matters.

Interesting game which made me think that with the successful mixture of experience and youth on show from the Stanley perspective that the future at the Crown looks decidedly rosy !!.
Some talent on show from the Wigan camp as well which ensured that once again we saw another pretty passing game surpassed by a show of spirit and will...but isn't this what we expect from all our players !!..
p.s Well done the management team who got it 'right on the night ' !

We chose to spend my 50th birthday and Mrs RD's 48th at the Crown tonight, and we weren't bad judges. Entertaining fayre, particularly 2nd half as the game opened up a bit more. While enjoyed seeing the young 'uns, particularly Stockdale and Hopper- a born leader-, really enjoyed watching Hughes' contribution tonight, a sorcerer working skilfully and generously with his apprentices- must be awesome experience for some of the youngsters. Pleased for Kurtis tonight- got his goal, never hid, but I worry about his centre of gravity and the ease with which at times he's shoved off the ball. Still Leyland here we come- will it be on the Carpark of the Commercial Vehicle Museum, or somewhere else?

At the headquarters of the LFA, County Ground. Worth a punt though at asking the other finalists if they wouldn't mind playing it as pre-season match at the Crown Ground though :)

As well as on the pitch last night I was impressed with what went on off the pitch, and it was nothing to do with Stanley. Take a bow Roberto Martinez. Make's a complete change to see a Premier League manager who isn't a million miles up his own ego. Good interaction with the fans asking for his autograpgh and photos with some of the youth team lads after the game, and a constant smile on his face, not like some miserable toad a few miles down the road. Good luck to Wigan in their fight this season.

Re: Lancashire Cup V Oldham.......

Enjoyed the game last night, with contrasting styles.
Wigans young development team mirrored the first team in terms of pass/move and wanting the ball.
Acci stood off them in the first half and Wigan produced some good ball retention spells on a difficult surface.
Acci opened up the game and had a right go in the second-half and deseved the equaliser.
It was good to judge Accis younger lads against there own age group and
Toto,although still learning,stood out.
Micah showed hes a threat when in the right areas and Willis did ok.
In fact none of the young lads went missing which was a good sign.
Funniest part of the game was watching Hughes chase the Wigan youngsters,I bet he thought them days were history!!!!

Good match last night. Wigan youngsters bossed the first half but Stanley came right back into it in the second half. All the penalties from both sides up to 7 - 7 each were absolute crackers! When Dawber saved one Willis went streaking down the pitch as if we had won. It was ironic that he was next up and missed. It worked out ok though in the end. Well done to the Stanley youngsters aided by a few slightly older players! Liam's tactics were good too. Should be a good final in August and I agree that it would be great to try and get the match moved to the Crown ground with a good gate bringing in some fans and cash.

Outback - I am the bright spark who suggested the final could be played at The Crown! It was only a quick idea without too much thought but what's actually wrong with the notion? It would be good publicity for us and could bring in a bit of cash too. Blackpool and Man utd would only be playing youngsters who often play on lower league and non league grounds already.

The funniest thing about tonight's game is that United are that skint they didn't have enough players to fill the bench :D

First time since 46; really think a final @ Accy with Sir Alex pesent could make everybody including charties a few quid.

They will probably dismiss it on the grounds that Sir Alex has a vested interest as a shareholder :)

Apologies if I upset you Choirboy, it wasn't mentioned with malice aforethought, perhaps I should have said a member with a brilliant idea, especially now with the final against United. Would no doubt bring in some welocome coffers for the club during the summer break.
To reiterate, brilliant idea

:alright:
