I don't know much about the Rochdale squad or their specific weaknesses but I'd expect to see us having to fend off interest for the likes of Winnard, Joyce, Craney, Hughes and Barnett. All capable of League One football.

Hope they put a clause in the contract ala Westley and Satanage that he cannot approach any players until the end of the season when hopefully we will be a league above Rochdale!

Absolutely mental if there isn't such a clause in the deal. So, knowing Stanley, probably not! ;)

The're allowed to have Kevin & Phil (seeing as it's not very likely we'd get either of them back) as long as our current squad can't be raided till at least the end of the season.

Kenny Arthur played about 15 games for us in our promotion season. I think he plays for Grimsby Town now. I wonder if he is still making a business from his goalkeepers gloves? I liked Kenny but he wasn't quite good enough for league 1. We have yet to find a permanent replacement though - have you got anyone we could poach? lol.

He has been released from Grimsby.

Seems to have had an absolute nightmare with injuries for a few years.

"Sky Sports Understands" we are making a bid for Terry Gornell. I would be interested to know your thoughts on this player. I believe he scored a few for you.

VERY good player Dale.

Got a good eye for goal, holds the ball up well and is the perfect front man for your formation.

Will be surprised if the Shrews let him go though, he has been playing and scoring for them, plus you have Grimes banging them in now.

Is this the same Michael Symes who told Coley he was going to sign a contract for him at Stanley, then let his contract run-out and left for nothing ??????

They are going to end up with the side we could have had, if we'd have had the resources :(

Apparently left us to move closer to his girlfriend in Bournemouth, perhaps she's just moved to Rochdale!!

maccawozzagod 01-02-2012 10:31

Re: Rochdale January signings.

thats probably what the attraction to the job was for Coley, the fact that he could assemble the League 2 team that he WANTS, better wages, facilities and League 1 football and none of our old boys would have left.

Symes is out of contract at the end of this season and he is on loan until then. I'd expect summer moves for a few more of the old guard, Edwards, Grant and possibly Cisak leading the way.

It will be interesting to watch it develop and see "what we could have won"

It's a tried and tested method for managers. Coley seems to be 'doing a Hillcroft', the only difference being we haven't signed anybody from Accy.

Symes loan deal takes him to the end of his Bournemouth contract, so there's every chance we'll sign him permanently if all goes well (and his girlfriend isn't the same one who's got a good job in Bournemouth!). IF we stay up, and Shrews stay down I expect we'll be making another bid for Terry Gornell in the summer, and probably sounding out the likes of Bobby Grant and Jimmy Ryan (though I suspect they'd atill cost a fair whack in transfer fees).

Before Hillcroft left, we were rumoured to have lined up deals for David Perkins, Craig Davies & Jimmy McNulty. They all signed for Barnsley very soon after Hillcroft took over. We'd also tried to sign Stephen Dawson before he went to Orient. Add the likes of Scott Wiseman & Matty Done signing directly from Dale, and ex-Dale Chris Dagnall signing from Scunny, and you've got a proper Barnsleydale FC lineup. I'm just surprised they haven't signed Tom Kennedy, or managed to convince Woy to part with Craig Dawson on loan.

Definitely a case of 'what if?'

This season has been a nightmare with all the Long distances involved.

Agree with Alvin with he deserves better but rochdale as a club! Get them down here! Great local game for the accrington!

And also what smudgie says, its been awful this year with southern games, even i cant catch up. Coaches are low and people are sick of heading that way this season!
