2011 Prediction League – Game 30; v Oxford Utd (home)

That was then, this is now; this week’s starter for 10 (no, not “Who the hell’s going to play in our back four on Tuesday” :o); name the player who’s already played against us twice this season at Fortress Crown for different teams, who – unless something odd happens – will feature in Tuesday’s game either in Oxford’s starting 11 or on the bench?

The answer is West Ham’s Cristian Montano (20), a Colombian striker, who scored against us for Swindon :( and didn’t score against us for Dagenham and ForthRoadBridge :D; Oxford tried unsuccessfully to keep Southampton’s Lee Holmes when his loan expired, he having scored twice in the 9 games he played for them (he actually moved on to Swindon), and went for Montano – who’s played for Notts County (two spells) as well as Oxford, Swindon and the Daggers this season - as cover (they appear still to be without Jon-Paul Pittman, Alfie Potter and Tom Craddock). They also signed Chesterfield’s striker Dean Morgan (28) on loan, while letting midfielder Josh Payne move permanently to Aldershot.

Currently they’re 7th with 62 points from 38 games and a game in hand on Cheltenham, who are 3 points above them with a worse goal difference (+14 to +16); they look like a good bet to hold a playoff place :) – Crewe are 1 point behind them having played 39, and then it’s Gillingham on 58 from 38. Since this game was forced off by the weather they’ve played 10; they’ve won 5 at home (2-1 over Rotherham, Barnet and the Daggers, 1-0 against Wimbledon, and 2-0 over Swindon) and drawn the other (1-1 against Macclesfield); away, it’s a different story – 3 draws (goalless at Bristol Rovers (doesn't have the romantic ring of "Sleepless in Seattle", does it?) and Cheltenham, and 2-2 at Shrewsury) and a defeat (2-1 at Bradford, would you believe …….) Played 10 Won 5 Drawn 4 Lost 1 scored 13 conceded 8; they don’t do goal-fests, do they? :p Grind out a point or three ……….. Wish we could grind out a few more threes ……… Like we arguably deserve ………..:D

19 different names on their scoresheet over the season so far ;); leaders are James Constable with 11 (it was 9 when the game was postponed), West Ham’s 18 year old striker Robert Hall – who got 6 in 10 games in his first spell there and none in four on his second (and who won’t get any more ‘cos he’s gone back home :p) - with 6, and midfielder Peter Leven (Kilmarnock, Chesterfield and the MK Dons) also with 6 (which hasn’t gone up since the postponement)

The deadline for entries is, as ever, scheduled kick-off time, which is 7.45pm on Tuesday 27th March. Three meetings, three draws; this season we’re the two draw specialists in League Two, each having drawn 14 times; who said it’s the draws that kill you in this League? :o Better do something about it, then – if we can find a team to start the match with. I don’t want to worry you, but I have it on good authority that Cashy and Wynonie are both bringing their boots, just in case ………….:D:D:D

Original guesses stand, but change yours by all means if you want .......

Good luck to everyone ………… and thanks for playing!

:alright:
