I thought the 1962 players were going to do a "lap of honour" round the ground, i would have liked to have seen them close up. Does anyone know if George Hudson was there? I know that he was a guest when we played Northampton last season, he made the half-time draw if i remember rightly.

Yep, great to see the "old guard" there. Nipped into the club afterwards and had a chat to Jim Harrower, the son of the late Jimmy Harrower who, apart from being a player, was Stanley's last manager before they left the league. "Young" Jim was in the same class as me at AGS and I hadn't seen him for over 40 years, so a personal thanks to the club for reuniting me with an old classmate! :)

I hate to be critical but I do think that the occasion was poorly handled. It could and should have been made into far more of an occasion on the field. All that we saw was Peter Marsden handing out gifts to a group of men while someone read out a list of names. Each player's name should have been read out at the time he was presented with his gift and then he could have acknowledged the crowd and applause before moving on to the next one. And the presentations should have been made much nearer the centre circle.

That's what i think...it should've been in the centre circle for the fans to have a better view, and announced over the tannoy as each player was presented with their gift. The only picture i've seen of the ex players so far was in yesterday's Lancs Telegraph, and they didn't bother to list them so we don't know who's who.:( Maybe there'll be more information in this weeks Observer.
