Re: Southend United Match Thread.............
Outstanding performance!
We really have become a 90 minute plus injury time team. Fantastic! Liddles red means Willis might get a start next Saturday. Hope Hess or Dean recover soon. |
Re: Southend United Match Thread.............
I wasn't able to post whilst I was at the match so, having just got home, I can now say that we were absolutely magnificent today. The yellow cards and the sending offs suggest that we were a dirty team but - and I may be biased - nothing could be further from the truth. If Cook hadn't had a rant I would have been disappointed; the referee was too easily influenced by the Southend home crowd (who really do need to learn how to speak English; couldn't make out a word they were saying in their dreadful accent). We were the better team and we played the better football. All of the boys showed passion today and to be quite honest that is all I wanted before the match. To have come away with a point, and to have looked disappointed at not getting all three, was an absolute credit to them. Toto was desperately unlucky not to score with his head late on and although there were moments where my heart was in my mouth he was solid and showed that his confidence continues to grow. I could go on - some would say that I already have - but I will sign off by simply saying 'well done' to all the players and here's to more performances with that much passion.

Re: Southend United Match Thread.............
Paul Sturrock the Southend Manager is a big fan of what has been achieved and is being achieved at Accrington. This was his assessment before the match. He will always be a legend to many Sheffield Wednesday fans myself included.

Re: Southend United Match Thread.............
Well done today to the players, management and the fans who went! We seem to be slowly turning the corner. A couple of weeks ago, after failing to score in four defeats, we simply could not see where the next goal would come from. On another post all I said was that we just needed a bit of luck and to score a couple of goals; scrappy, scraupy, brilliant or even own goals in our favour. It is amazing what a bit of luck can do. Of course the team are working hard too, which was clearly evident from the reports of our fans at Southend. Two home games now and we have a chance to get that first win under Cooky. Come on the Reds!
